June 2, 1978
Prologue
Christina walked on the road being accompanied by her father. It was dawn and the bus will arrive at 6 . Since there were no motorcycles or taxi, they need to walk for hours to reach the terminal.
She lives in a small province wherein going to the City to study College will take 8 hours by bus.
They are 11 in the family and she is the eldest. Her Father works in the farm while her Mother is a housewife who takes good care of her 8 younger siblings.While they were walking, Christina looked at his Father who was carrying 2 sacks. One is full of rice while the other one is full of sweet potatoes and bananas.It will be her food for Months since she won't be able to go home for one semester. Her Father is indeed very hardworking, he raised his 9 children and a wife by himself so all Christina wants is to finish her studies to help her poor Family.
When they arrived after hours of walking, her father sat down under a very big Mango tree who serves as the terminal. There were few who were also waiting for the bus to arrive. After a while, Everyone got up as they heared the honking of the bus coming and finally, the bus has arrived. She hugged his teary-eyed Father goodbye then went inside the bus. She found a good spot to sit in but her heart sank while looking at her Father who needs to walk for hours again going back to their home .On their way to the City, some were sleeping, some were chatting, while Christina chose to Enjoy the scenery while listening to the radio.📻📼🎶🎶 I close my eyes, only for a moment and the moment's gone.
While Enjoying the ride and view, She was thinking what would her life be in the next six months since it will be her first time away from home and from the Family.
