I sat drove down the rode with my family, happily chatting with my mom, dad, aunt and my niece. "I would take the back roads if I were you, it's quicker," my mom suggested. "The roads are very hilly and twisty turny back there, but alright," I said, reluctantly. I looked in the rear view mirror at my dad, who caught my eye and smiled. "So! You excited to move? L.A is a pretty big city, for such a little girl!" My dad teased. I rolled my eyes and smiled. "Dad, I'm not a little girl anymore. I think I can handle a city," I said grinning. We were on our way to the airport from our small town in southern Vermont. My 7 year old niece tapped me on the shoulder and showed me one of her pink pony toys from her favorite show, Pretty Princess Pony Pals. It was childish, but she always made me laugh. I heard my phone buzz, signifying a text message, but I ignored it, considering it was the law to not text and drive. Suddenly, a car was going right down the wrong side of the lane and coming straight towards us. Everyone was panicking, and I swerved right around, but just barely missing the car. I sighed a breath of relief with everyone, and whipped my head around to make sure everyone was alright. I was about to ask them if everything was okay. That's when I heard the slam and screech of tires, and I was thrown forward with a loud crunch. Everything went dark and my mothers screams faded from my hearing.
What I assumed must have been hours later, I woke up with a start. I smelled smoke, and heard the crackling of flames. As my eyes adjusted to my surroundings, I noticed debris everywhere. I remembered suddenly what happened. We got in a car accident. It took a minute, but then the adrenaline kicked in. I panicked, standing up and bolting over to a flaming, mangled, crushed up piece of metal that must have been my car. I frantically searched for my family, when I heard small cries and sobs. My niece! I ran around to the other side of the crushed up truck. My niece was crouched down, sobbing and screaming, kneeling next to something. I ran over to her, and picked her up. She screamed even louder, until she realized who I was. She hugged me and sobbed into my chest. I then realized what she was knelt beside. My aunts mangled, torn up body, covered in windshield glass and metal debris. I covered my mouth and tastes bile in my throat. My niece, Emily scream cried. I heard sirens in the distance, so someone must have heard. I shook what was left of my aunts shoulder, but deep inside I knew she was already gone. I remembered my parents, and in a panic, told Emily to wait for the ambulance. I sprinted over to the car. Searching the inside. I saw my mother, pieces of glass and metal stabbed into her chest, her body soaked in blood. Her eyes were open, but glazed over and staring at nothing. "NO!!" I screamed, calling my moms name, and sobbing. I screamed until I couldn't anymore, she was gone. I went around to the other side of our car and found my dad, lying on the ground in a pool of blood. He was stabbed in the stomach by some metal. But he was alive! "Dad!"
I yelled, coming up and cradling his face in my hands. He smiled weakly and kissed my forehead. I told him what happened to my mom and my aunt, and sobbed. Blood soaked his clothes and he got weaker. "I'm....sorry (Y/N). I....I'm not going to make it.." he muttered. "No! You will! The ambulance is almost here they will help you!" I started, but my dad stopped me. "No... they can't...you know I'm a doctor.... this isn't something... they can fix..." he whispered. Tears burned in my eyes and clouded my vision. He kisses my cheek. He used the last of his strength to only hold my hands, until his blooded drained out, his eyes glazed over and a single tear rolled down his cheek. His body went limp and I screamed as sirens blared behind me. I fainted.
