Poppy POV
I slowly feel my eyes open and my vision is a little blurry as I look around the room. I saw a flat screen T.V on with the old seasons of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. My vision clears up as I realize that I'm in a room I have never seen before. I was laying down on the couch looking around trying to figure out what's going on. I hear voices from a distance. I stare up at the ceiling as I try to think of why am in this unfamiliar room.
I look down at my body. I hold in the gasp the wanted to escape from my lips. I was barely wearing any clothes and my thigh had stitches.
Then it all hit me. Cody. Katie. Ryder.
Ryder. Just the thought of his name makes me smile. He saved me...again. Even though I appreciate him taking his time on me, I don't want to ruin his reputation.
I hear footsteps and I close my eyes and pretend I'm asleep.
"She's still asleep." I hear a familiar voice say. "Poppy. C'mon. Wake up."
I listen to the voice carefully and then I realize it's Ryder.
"It's been 4 hours. I miss you already." Ryder whispers. I try hard not to smile and I keep my face natural.
I open my eyes to find a pair of green eyes staring at me. Ryder smiled at me and I smile a small smile.
"What happened? Where am I?" I asked, slowly getting up.
"Ow!" I exclaim, as a pain shoots from my thigh.
"Lay back down." Ryder says softly laying me back down. "Your at my house. My mom stitched your thigh up. She's a nurse and my sister is here too." Ryder exclaims.
"Oh." I say.
"I should probably go get my mom. She'll come and check up on you." Ryder says. He leaves and a couple minutes later, a woman who has the same exact eyes as Ryder and who is really tall comes in the room.
"Poppy. This is my mom." Ryder says. "Mom, this is Poppy."
"Hi." I said shyly.
"No need to be shy dear. It's ok." Ryder's mom says softly. Her voice was calm and gentle and I felt myself relax. She reminded of my grandmother. Very kind and loving.
I smile at her. "Thank you...um..." I said trying to think of what to call her. I don't if I call her Mrs. Smith. Ryder never mentioned his father.
"Oh. Call me Anne dear." Ryder's mom smiles at me.
I smile back. "Thank you Anne." I say.
"No need to thank me. It's my job overall. I'm just happy your alright." Anne says.
"Yeah. Me too." I said.
"You should probably stay here for the next couple of days. You would want to heal faster." Anne explains.
I shake my head. "I appreciate your kindness Anne, but I think I'm alright staying home. I don't want to intrude." I say.
Anne shakes her head. "Poppy. It's best if you stay. You need to rest so your thigh can heal."
I sigh knowing Anne won't give up. "Alright."
The room feel silence before a girl who looked a couple years older came in the room with a large box of pizza in her arms.
