ACT ONE
Jealousy.
What is a relationship with jealousy? Flawed. Its almost inescapable. I didn't want to be one of those girlfriends, because I didn't want our relationship to have any flaws in it. Jealousy would only damage the trust we had in each other. Or at least the trust we thought we had.
We were just walking down the street together one day. It came out of no where. We couldn't have seen it coming. Neither of us expected to be hit with this on a day that was meant to be a relaxing day off, only to turn into a day filled with insecurity. We were walking closely together, freezing from the bitter and unforgiving winter that was taking place. Both of her arms were wrapped around mine, hugging my arm tightly to her chest. "Still cold?" I'd asked her, but I already knew the answer. Despite having three layers on with a hat covering her ears, she was still shivering.
My teeth chattered as I glanced up at him with a weak smile. "Guess I'm still not used to the cold. And I forgot gloves." I'd grown up where warm weather was a constant that nobody minded. The days were always perfect for activities and the only time you had to worry was when you had a broken AC. Here, where the weather hit all four seasons and winter hit the hardest, I wasn't used to it one bit. My fingers were pale white and completely numb. I tried to warm them by rubbing them together, but it was like all feeling had been stripped away from them, and I was trying to revive something that wasn't there anymore.
We stopped at the side of the sidewalk, and I took her hands in my equally freezing ones and brought them up to my face. I cupped them with my own hands and blew my hot breath on them to try and ease the cold. Anything I could do to make things better for her I would do, that was love after all.
You would do anything for that person. Anything at all.
I smiled at him as he looked me in the eyes while trying to warm my hands up. He kissed my fingers, and squeezed my hands in his. Bringing our hands down, I leaned up to kiss him, connecting our cold and dry lips that at the moment, we didn't mind that much.
Her nose rubbed against my face and her eyelashes fluttered against my cheek, planting butterfly kisses all around. I didn't care if anyone knew it, I was whipped. She really did have me wrapped around her finger. "Better?" I asked her. My hands were large enough to cover both of hers, shielding the cold wind that blew over us. She nodded her head.
There was a moment where we forgot where we had initially been going. The destination we had been freezing our butts over was suddenly forgotten as we were standing closely on the sidewalk together. It was a moment that didn't last very long.
In her haste, a woman came jogging onto the sidewalk. She seemed to be in a hurry, with her arms carrying her purse and a large collection of papers. She was dressed primly, with her red peacoat wrapped tightly around her body, shear black tights covering her legs, and tall black heels on her feet. It shocked me at how quickly she was able to move with the height of those shoes. Alex always wore flats, her work didn't require her to dress nice constantly, and she found it more comfortable not to wear high-heels anyways.
