Chapter 2
Noah's POV
Today was the first day in 11th grade and I was happy to see my friends. We attend an international school so we live in different parts of the world. I'm mixed so my parents are from different parts of the globe. During these holidays I visited my mother's family in South Africa. My mom and dad currently live in Spain so I can speak a little bit of Spanish. Most of my childhood was spent moving around the world. I was happy to see my crazy friends. Most of us started being good friends in 9th grade after a game of truth or dare.
***Flashback***
I had just arrived at the gate of Bridgeton High International School for Girls, stepping out of the transport that the school had arranged for me just to find Stella and Zoella waiting for me, and I smiled at them. I was still shy and reserved so I wasn't good at communicating with people. "Noey!", Zoella screamed as she engulfed me in a hug, "my cutie pie has arrived". I just looked at her and Stella smiled and shook her head as if to say"don't mind her". Stella was always calm and has always been the person that I understood the most as the other three were completely crazy.
"I've missed you Noey," Zoella said as she helped me with my luggage. "Zoe, stop weirding the poor child out. You know she is still shy around us so let her have a piece of mind" countered Stella. Most of the time we felt embarrassed together whenever Oliver, Zoella, and Scarlet decided to act goofy. We went to the admin to register for the year and call my parents to inform them of my safe arrival at the school.
Zoella was telling me about her holidays when Oliver and Scarlet arrived. Oliver was wearing blue skinny jeans and a grey tank top she got as a birthday present from Zoella written: "Girls Girls Girls" which was a reference to a popular GOT7 song. She had spent the whole of last year gushing about how the song describes Oliver as most girls had already taken a liking on her and when she found it while shopping she couldn't help but buy it for her. She was a fashion lover and this showed a lot in her choice of clothing the outfit she was wearing. She was wearing a stonewashed high waisted capris with a red sheer crop top.
"Olly, can you help with the luggage babe?"
"Zoe can you stop being lazy for two seconds and just carry them the remaining 50 meters"
"I should've known that you were gonna comment, Stella"
I immediately tuned out the argument as I knew it was gonna take centuries. Oliver seemed to notice my discomfort and offered to carry my backpack for me. "I know you dislike the arguments as much as I do so let's go and they'll sort it out on their own like they usually do", she said that and turned around to call Scarlet who was trying to calm them down. That was usually a hopeless cause. She came quickly with the luggage Zoella was holding and we walked to the dorm.
"Roommate, you've arrived", Leticia said as she hugged me.
She was my roommate last year and we decided to stay together as we understood each other and I wasn't ready to live with someone else. "I already fetched your holiday gift pack and your schedule for monthly duties from the dorm mistress, they are on the table, see for yourself."
On my table lay a medium-sized bright pink gift bag, and I immediately took a disliking towards the object. Pink was a very "not-me" colour, it tends to make my skin crawl. I just preferred darker colours over lighter ones. Just as I was about to reach for it, someone knocked on my door. "Come in" my roommate Leticia called out, and in came in a very hyperactive-looking Scarlet and it seemed that her excitement seemed to be messing with her use of words. She was just jumping up and down, and blabbering, I even thought she might bite down on her tongue accidentally.
"Dark...you...room...hurry" She didn't even wait for my response before she began dragging me through the hallway and leading me towards Zoella's room. See, Zoella didn't have a roommate because we only had 47 students in our grade, but it didn't bother her. Zoe's room was a fun place, filled with secrets of crushes, and of who we daydream about mostly in class. That room was our chamber of secrets, The Dark Room is what we called it.
We walked in and I saw the girls: Zoella, Oliver, and Stella all seated on the ground. Scarlet took a seat and formed what seemed to be a square looking kind of circle. They had left a rather big enough space for me to seat in between Oliver and Stella, and I closed the door, before sitting down. All eyes were on me. "Guys, what are we doing here?" I asked because the tension was just too much for me.
"Olly said that......." Scarlet began.
"Sshhh," Olly said while giving a very cold look. "Only I get to tell her...okay," Olly said to her while her gaze was softening, after realizing how hurt Scarlet looked.
"Tell me what?" I was getting irritated by these kids, I say kids because I'm the oldest. I was the first one to turn 14 last year and Oliver was the youngest, being born a year and a few months after me.
"Noah, during the holidays I... I kissed a girl"
To say I was shocked would be an understatement. The baby of the group was the first to kiss. She would only turn 14 in nine months but she kissed someone first. I know I asked a stupid question but I had to know.
"Kiss as in peck or....?" I asked looking at her. She looked shocked before she responded,
"French kissing, I French kissed her." She answered honestly. But quite frankly I didn't believe her. She was known as the group's prankster, and I think this was one of her pranks. I listened to my gut, and like the fool I was I quickly stood up, and the most idiotic words escaped my lips.
"Prove it," I said smirking, thinking I had won.
In less than 2 seconds I was on Zoe's bed getting passionately kissed by Olly, and as a person who was not used to having people close to her, I immediately regretted calling her bluff. I freaked out as soon as I felt her lips on mine as I preferred to have my own personal space and kissing violated that. "Sorry Noah, I shouldn't have done that". As I was about to answer I was interrupted ."Umm guys...." we looked up to see Stella, Zoe, and Scarlet all looking at us. Shocked.
"It's time to go eat dinner now," Scarlet said smirking, I was confused by her reaction to all of this. "You can go, I'm not really that hungry" I was pretty sure I was blushing so hard. I had just gotten controlled by a kid younger than me. Zoella could see that what just happened had impacted me in some way so she offered to stay with me.
"We can go now," Oli said, her voice getting husky, and giving me goosebumps. I don't think I'll be able to talk to her for a while. I was shaken by what just happened and I've got no one to blame except me.
"Wait before we go, guys, can I say something" We heard Scarlet say.
"Yeah, what?" we all ask impatiently, I wasn't really hungry but I was scared of what she was going to say.
"Everything that just happened now stays in this room. We just noticed some things here, and it'll stay here ladies. Everybody agree?"
We all nodded our heads in agreement. No longer were we just friends. We had a bond to live up to. We weren't ordinary people anymore. We were the Dare friends.
And the Dark Room would soon hold much darker secrets.
***Flashback End***
That day was the beginning of a great friendship and a series of trials and tribulations, of secrets and dares.
