-Based on the book The Fault in our Stars, I own none of the characters or plot lines, this is simply the ending I made up for it-
Hazel's POV
"Honey, it's going to be alright", said my mother between her loud sobs.
My father looked at me with lonely eyes, "I love you", he whispered.
"I can't", I say between gasps for air, "leave....with....out....saying.....good....good.....bye to.....Augustus", I struggle to scream as tears pore down my face.
I try to concentrate on breathing.
In...out...in...out...
But it's not working.
Between all of the sobs escaping my mouth I'm barely getting any air into my lungs.
"Sweetie Gus knows you love him, you don't have to visit his grave for him to know that", says my mother quietly.
I think of oblivion. I think of where I will go to in a few minutes when I finally loose the never ending battle with cancer.
Will I ever see Augustus Waters again?
I'm so afraid.
I'm shaking so much I can't say much else.
The fluid in my lungs engulfs me and I drown there in my bed.
"I love you", I manage to choke out as I realize the horrendous truth.
I'm about to die.
I can't manage to say anything else.
My parents take my hand and I try with all my strength to hold theirs back.
Crying, and drowning in my tears, I slip into oblivion.
What seems like hours pass, but I know it has only been mere seconds.
I'm standing outside the church of the literal heart of Jesus, but there is no one else around.
Curiously I open the door and make my way up the stairs to where the support group usually meets.
I realize as I'm climbing the never ending stairs....I don't have my oxygen tank with me.
"I'm breathing", I whisper to myself, "I can breath."
I laugh and take a long, deep breath into my nose, "I'm breathing!!!" I say a little louder.
I make it to the top. Instead of it being where the support group usually meets, I'm at the park where Augustus took me right before he told me about the Amsterdam trip.
"Hello?", I say cautiously.
"Hello, Hazel Grace, you look wonderful as always", I hear from behind me.
I begin crying tears of joy when I see Augustus Waters standing behind me.
I rush towards him and embrace him.
He wasn't the sickly boy in a wheelchair anymore, he was the tall, muscular boy I had fallen in love with that day at support group.
"How's it feel to breath?", he asks me.
"Wonderful", I smile.
I lift up his pants leg to see that he is no longer wearing a fake leg.
"Two legs!", I exclaim.
"Yep, finally", he smiles.
Then I took Augustus Water's hand and we walked into heaven together.
Finally, our story could have a happy ending.
