They decided to help Morticia's Dad fix up the house before getting ready. Trying to be sure that the thing wasn't going to harm him. When they didn't see it, they felt relieved. But not enough to not stay close to each other. And they hurriedly got their things together. Morticia had gotten her costume on first. She hurriedly wrapped fake barbwire around her bat. It wouldn't do much to the monster but it made her feel better. Then they hurried downstairs to where Morticia's Mom was ready. All dressed up as her favorite movie monster, the Bride of Frankenstein. Peggy was helping Rhett put on his own costume. He was going as Frankenstein's monster and he couldn't get his hair right.
Stephanie was in the living room putting the candy in a large black plastic cauldron they bought that morning. Her own costume was a Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad movie. She had made herself as close to the movie as possible. Pink and blue dyed on her long blond hair that was in similar pigtails. Along with the make up. Though she didn't have any of the tattoos, since those were difficult to replicate. It was still a very impressive costume. When she spotted them, she offered to drive them to Raven's place. They were about to argue that she shouldn't so soon after her surgery. But the look she gave them made them give in. As soon as they got to Stephanie's car, she asked,"Did you get the doll from the creepy little Snow White wannabe?"
"We did.",Morticia answered. Her sister asked if they burned the doll just yet. And her expression turned angry for a moment when they explained they hadn't. As they turned the corner, she asked,"Why haven't you burned the stupid thing yet? Isn't that what you need to kill that little brat?"
"Mom got home sooner than I thought she was going to!",she told her. Glaring at her older sister, she crossed her arms. In an annoyed tone, she reminded,"Mostly because someone forgot to keep her away from the house long enough!"
"I gave you guys three fucking hours!",Stephanie hissed. It wasn't long before they arrived at Raven's apartment. She turned to her little sister as she asked,"How in the Hell can you not burn a damn doll in three fucking hours?!"
Morticia told her sister all that happened to them. How hard it was to find the house and the doll in the first place. And that they had fallen into the basement of the house the thing lived in. How it tried to trap them in said basement. They had to fight the thing off to even get free from the creature as well. Once she was done with her story, she saw her sister's expression change. It looked somewhat horrified as she stared at her little sister. Raven took Rebecca out of the car and into Paulina's place. After a moment of silence, Stephanie apologized for yelling at her. In a calmer voice, she said,"I just want all of this bullshit to be done and over with. That thing almost killed me, Tish. I've never been that close to death before in my life."
Hugging her sister, she said,"I'm sorry. I promise that we'll get rid of the stupid doll soon."
"I trust you.",her sister said. They hugged for a few minutes before Morticia's friends came back. Then they headed off to Rebecca's place to get her costume. Raven toyed with her headband as they drove to Rebecca's home. And she asked,"So what're you going as Rebecca?"
"I'm going as a visual pun.",she said. But she wouldn't tell them more about it. Telling them that it would be a surprise. All of them were starting to dread surprises but let this slide. It wasn't like it was going to be something awful. And as soon as they got to her place, Raven followed her into the house. At least ten minutes later, she came back shaking her head with a weird look on her face. Rebecca was quickly following after as she asked,"C'mon. It's not that bad of a pun, is it?"
She was wearing a pair of fake glasses that had a nose and mustache on them. All black clothing as well. On her chest was 'bless you'. Both Gossamer sisters gave a low groan as they realized what the pun was. An just why Raven was looking like that and shaking her head. Rebecca was going as a 'blessing in disguise'. A very cheesy pun that was worse than they had initially anticipated it being. Rebecca climbed into the car and demanded,"You guys can't tell me that this isn't funny. It's super funny and you guys know it!"
They agreed that it was funny. But when they looked at each other, they knew they thought it was pretty geeky. This wasn't the worst pun that they had ever seen. After all, their Dad owned a book on'em. It was enough to almost make them start groaning. As they drove towards the school, they admired the decorated houses. Along with several little trick'r'treaters that milled around the neighborhoods. Some were going as adorable little woodland creatures. Their parents going as the obvious adult versions. A few teenagers were dressed up in superhero costumes or some Creepypasta character. Only a few they could get. Like Jeff the Killer or Slenderman. One kid was dressed up as Jane the Killer. Her costume was super glittery and her skin was as pale as the story made her out to be. And she even had contacts in to have the same eye color. Rebecca had noticed that when she glanced at them. In an impressed tone, she said,"She looks wicked cool. If I didn't know any better I would've thought she was the real deal."
"Yeah...wonder how she got her arms and legs so pale.",Raven said. They made a few guesses before deciding it was just body paint and tights. Morticia admired that about her. She was definitely more into Halloween than she was and that was saying a lot.
As soon as they got to the school, she kissed her sister's cheek. Told her that she loved her before rushing inside with her friends. There were so many kids that she was surprised. It seemed a good portion of their grade were there. Along with some younger kids. As they talked with people, Raven found her group of friends and started chatting them up. Rebecca dragged her over to meet her friends. Telling them that she was the one who helped her with the rabid dog. Rebecca's friends were also dressed up in visual puns. One was a blond haired girl dressed up as a cake with angel wings and a halo. Her name was Stacy. The other girl had brown hair and wore deer antlers along with minimal make up. As well as brown shirt with the word "Oh" written on it. That girl's name was Michelle. They seemed to like her pretty well. Both commenting how they liked her costume. It was nice. As they partied, they enjoyed the songs and games that people brought. All girls almost forgot what they were supposed to be doing. That is, until they noticed a pale figure standing near the gym's entrance. Dressed in gray clothes with long black hair and a creepy sharp toothed grin.
