"Katherine!" I turned in the direction of the voice.
"Hi, Bridget," I responded with a smile.
My bubbly friend with straight blond hair was especially cheery this morning."It's the start of a new year girl, and we're in our sophomore year!" she squealed.
I closed my locker. "It's just school Bridget."
"Maybe something interesting will happen this year," she continued as we walked.
"Or maybe it's just gonna be a regular year," I shrugged.
"Oh, maybe that hot guy Jace will notice you."
"No thanks, he's a player and a dick. Honestly I don't see what there is to swoon about."
"Well he's hot duh! Who wouldn't?" she rolls her eyes.
I rolled mine as well. "Anyways, I'm not interested."
"Okay, okay fine let's just get to class then," she sighed.
----------------
"Good morning class, my name is Ms. Reid and I'll be your English teacher for the year."Bridget sat beside me at the back of the class. She tapped me while I was getting out my textbook. "Look who just walked in," she said and pointed to the door. I looked in the direction she indicated and shrugged. "So the dickhead is in our class, so what?"
"So what??!!" she practically shrieked. "That's like the luckiest thing on earth!"
"To you maybe," I responded and got out my pen.
She rolled her eyes and sighed. Jace sat down in the empty seat to my right. Bridget looked in my direction and grinned. I rolled my eyes again.
I paid my full attention to the teacher now. "Turn to page 22, mark the important stuff and write a story for homework," she smiled, "due next week."
The bell rung as soon as she said that. "Well that's it class. See you next week."
Everyone started exiting the room, gathering their items and chatting with each other.
I started packing my textbook in my bag and picked it up to exit myself. As soon as I reach the door, however, someone tapped me on the shoulder.
I turned around to see who it was and surprise surprise. None other than Jace Harlem.
He gave that popular flirty smile of his and I fought the urge to roll my eyes. I wasn't about to get played by some high school egotistical douche such as himself.
"Hey, I couldn't help but notice how pretty you were in class."
I looked to see if anyone else was left in the class and sure enough Bridget was watching with a broad smile on her face.I put on my best smile and answered him sweetly. "Thank you. Will that be all?"
"I don't know, maybe we could hang out later and get to know each other more," he smirked slightly.
I faked smile. "No thanks. I actually have better things to do. Goodbye Jace." I turned and walked out the classroom.
As I walked through the hall, Bridget caught up with me and started talking. "What just happened girl? THE JACE spoke to you and you turned him down?"
"Yeah, pretty much."
She sighed sadly. "You poor poor thing. You don't know what you just did."
"Pretty sure I do," I smiled and shrugged at her. She shook her head but didn't continue the conversation.
------------
I went to my locker and Bridget went ahead to get her lunch. As I closed my locker and locked it, someone stood beside me."Why did you say no?"
I turned and rolled my eyes. "Because I wanted to Jace. Problem?"
"No one refuses me like that," he said with a glint of interest.
"Well someone should knock you off your ego pedestal." I walked away, only for him to pull me back.
"I always get what I want and you are no different." I pulled my arm away and poked him in the chest. "Well good luck with that because I am not one of those brainless girls that worship you and beg to be with you."
He pulled my chin towards him with his finger. "We'll see about that."
