A little backstory, this story was inspired by conversations I had with my friend and we thought it would be cool to be in Highschool with our favorite bands (the Ramones and Guns N' Roses) but have them be rivals so I hope you enjoy
....................................................February 1979
The car was driving fast towards our new school. My friend Jess and I both moved to California with our families from Tennessee. We were different than the kids there, we were the only groupies. We loved music and the bands that played it, but no one else understood that. So here we are, "So what do you think it will be like?" She asks. I'm daydreaming as I stare out the window, "I don't know, anything has to be better than last year," I reply. "True, but I mean we are in California. We could actually meet some cool people and maybe even bands," she says excitedly. I laugh a little, "yeah, your right," I reply. "Anyway, how do I look?" She asks. She's wearing
"You look great dude," I reply. I dressed more casually than usual
"We need to make a good impression, even if the other students hate us," she laughs. The car stops in front of a big building that was covered in graffiti and toilet paper with music blasting out of the window. Jess and I stare with our mouths hung open, we turn to each other and smile. "Later mom," I yell as we get out of the car. The car pulls away and we just stare at the school. A bunch of guys were outside talking to each other, the talking and mumbling stops when a guy sees us. Soon they are all staring at us, Jess and I both blush a little. A voice suddenly breaks the silence, "Hello Rock n Roll Highschool students, and welcome to another year of awesome. We are happy to introduce our new students, Jess and Luna. Please make them feel welcome," A guy who seemed to be the principal said. All the guys turn to us and smile, as I look around I see that most of the guys have long hair and are wearing band shirts. "Well at least we aren't hated it seems," I joke, trying to break the silence. "Yeah, apparently we are some of the only girls tho, I only see like 5 or 6 others," she replies. I look around again and notice a tall guy with red glasses staring at Jess, I elbow her and nod my head towards him. "Looks like someone's got an admirer," I say. She looks over at him and he turns away, "He's cute," she says. "Then go talk to him," I reply nudging her in his direction. "Ok, catch you in class?" She asks. "You got it dude," I reply and she roles her eyes and smiles. I walk over to the side of the school with the least amount of people and take out a smoke, trying to light it with my old lighter. It won't work, "Need a light," a tall boy with blonde hair says while flicking his lighter on and holding it out to me. I light my cigarette, "Thanks," I reply. "I'm Duff, you are Luna right?" He asks. "Yep," I reply putting on my sunglasses. "Hey Duff, there you are," another blonde comes running towards us, "we were wondering where..." he stops when he sees me. "Oh hey Steven, this is Luna, the new girl," Duff says. "Hey," I say to Steven. He just stands there with his mouth open a bit. I see Jess waving for me to come over to where she is so I start to walk towards her, "Close your mouth babe, you might catch something," I say, walking past Steven. I feel them watching me as I walk away. I walk over to Jess, she is talking with that guy and his friends. "Hey Luna, this is Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, And Marky. They have a band called the Ramones," she says. "Cool," I reply. "Yeah, we are kinda like one of the gangs of the school," Johnny says. "And those losers you were talking to over there are part of our rivals," Dee Dee added. I open my mouth to respond but I'm interrupted by the bell. "Come on we need to get to class," Jess says to me, "later guys, bye Joey," she says to the boys. I turn and walk with her, what did they mean by gangs? And why we're those two guys so nice?
