Carrying Morticia to Stephanie's car was more difficult than she anticipated. Her girlfriend weighed more than she looked. Keeping a grip on her wasn't easy. But Raven did her best as she loaded her into the back seat. Apologizing every time that she jostled her broken bones. Stephanie climbed into the seat in front of her and held out the keys to Raven. The younger girl was about to protest when she said,"I'm not in any shape to drive, Raven. You need to get us to the hospital."
Her face was covered in sweat and obviously wasn't doing well. Taking the keys, Raven hurried to the driver's seat. Looking to the school, she noticed that Rebecca wasn't outside with them. She momentarily thought of waiting for the girl to catch up. But realized that wasn't a good decision. Morticia, as well as Stephanie, needed to be seen by a doctor. There was no way that she'd stay there a second longer, Raven pulled out of the school's parking lot. They sped off towards the hospital as she heard Stephanie talk to her sister. Trying to keep her calm as they made their way across town. Her eyes focused on the road as they drove.
It hadn't taken them long thanks to Raven's driving. Pulling into the emergency room parking lot, she pulled into the nearest spot. Going into the room, she told a nurse a version of what had happened to them. That they'd been messing around the school's roof and her girlfriend had fallen off it. Telling her that her arm and leg were broken. The nurse got them a stretcher and hurried to put Morticia on it. And as she was being wheeled in, Raven informed the nurse that Stephanie's condition. About how she recently had heart surgery and had driven them to the school. After she said this, the nurse informed her that she shouldn't have done that. It most likely had done some damage to her sternum. And as she examined her, she asked,"Miss? I'm Amarra Fairweather. Can you tell me how you feel right now?"
"Tired mostly...is my sister okay?",she asked. The nurse informed her that Morticia was having her arm and leg x-rayed to find out the extent of the breaks on either limb. And that she would be alright after she got casts on them. After Amarra asked her some questions, Stephanie asked,"I know that you're just doing your job but, how much longer will this take?"
"Not much longer, I think we should do an x-ray of your chest.",Amarra explained in a calm voice. Motioning for another nurse to bring a wheel chair, she continued,"Just to be on the safe side, Miss Gossamer. I want to be absolutely sure that your not in any danger."
Giving Raven the bat, she climbed into the wheel chair. Stephanie had been concerned that she'd done something wrong. As she was wheeled away, Raven toyed with the bat in her hands for a moment, then set it against the wall next to her. It was hard not knowing what was happening to her girlfriend. She felt guilty that she didn't do more to help her. If she'd attacked the thing then Morticia's limbs wouldn't have gotten twisted like that. Or if she hadn't flat out stood there hesitating while shaking in her boots and destroyed the fucking doll.
All of the 'ifs' were running through her head as she waited. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her phone. She pulled it out to check and noticed that she had a text from Rebecca. The text read that she had gotten everything cleaned up in the school. And that she almost got caught by the janitor a few times. Then she asked if both Morticia and Stephanie were going to be alright. In response, she told her that Morticia was going to probably need casts. But she wasn't sure about Stephanie. It seemed she was probably not going to be driving them anywhere anytime soon. As they texted back and forth, she heard a familiar voice ask,"Is everything okay, Raven?"
Looking up, she saw that it was Stephanie. She was wearing her costume and being wheeled back by a nurse. Raven shrugged her shoulders a little. In a calm voice, she answered,"I'm good. Just really tired is all."
"Well, that's adrenaline for ya.",Stephanie said. The nurse helped her into the chair next to Raven and took the wheelchair away. Both girls talked about what Rebecca was doing at the school. That she managed to get the waste basket fire out along with cleaning the ashes off the floor. Also that she almost got caught by the janitor a few times while she did this. Raven sighed as she said,"We're so lucky that we didn't get caught. This could've gone so much worse than it actually did."
"I know.",Stephanie answered. Raven looked at her for a moment and asked her why she came back. She frowned as she explained that she noticed the thing when she was pulling out of the parking lot. And she got concerned about their safety. That she parked, grabbed her bat and tried to look for them in the gym. Then she had gotten past the teachers into the rest of the school. Morticia's screams were what drew her over to the scene. Looking at Raven, she said,"I almost thought I was too late. It's a good thing you guys found that stuff so quick. I don't think I was going to hold that thing back for long."
Raven nodded her head in agreement. It was good that Rebecca could get a match lit so quickly. Otherwise the creature probably would've done them in. Her mind wandered back to Rebecca, she wondered what she was up to. She sent her a text on what she was doing. A few minutes later, Rebecca told her that she was hanging out with her friends. And she asked if Morticia was doing alright.
She told her that Morticia was getting her arm and leg x-rayed. And that she was going to probably need a cast on both of them. Rebecca gave her sympathies and told her that she'd get candy for Morticia. It was kind of sweet.
After ages of waiting, Morticia was finally brought back to them. Paulina was wheeling her towards them. Both were chatting about how long she'd have the casts for. As well as how to dress around them. When they stopped at their friends, Stephanie got up and hugged her. She pulled Raven into the hug as Morticia muttered,"It's finally over...maybe now we'll finally have a break from supernatural bullshit."
"Eh, hopefully.",Raven said. Pressing her cheek into her girlfriend's shoulder as she repeated,"Hopefully..."
