Lightning Dream

As I gaze upon the stars of this moonlit night

My thoughts are suddenly filled with fright

Lightning dreams in a nightmare world

The true horror within soon did unfurl

In my gaze such horrors did I see

All so gruesome I simply gave a scream

The nightmares are here to fucking stay

Not a thing I do will make them go away

Try as I might

I cannot feel right

My head is full to the brim with fear

I hopes so soon that the end is near

I wish it gone and I wish you well

But my dreams take me straight to hell

Where the monsters dance

And the demons prance

The most frightening part is yet to be

Screeches of delight are surrounding me

I hear the chitters of the little beasts

And in my heart I know that I'm their feast

I scream out my fear

But what's that I hear?

The beat of drums!

Have the warriors come?

A shriek sounds out

And I whirl all about

The fear inside is devouring my soul

Scooping out my brains and using my skull as a bowl

I lay on the ground as I sob a sigh

All thoughts in my head are that I will die

But then comes the sound

It's from all around

I bolt up right

Eyes wide in fright

The generals here and he's come for me

His carcass encased in dragon filigree

I scream in horror and make to run

But before I can the nightmares done

I awake in my bed

My only feeling is dread

I hear them all

Them crawling down the hall

They crawl and they creep

I dare not sleep
