BACKGROUND: Kaia was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois to her two mothers (via a sperm donor). Having two moms wasn't something that she thought was weird, until she got to school. In 6th grade, the kids would bully her for this. It got to the point where some kids wouldn't speak to her because she has two moms. This went on until she decided to tell her parents what the kids were doing. Her moms got involved, but the school didn't do anything to stop it, so she became homeschooled. This allowed her to have more free time, so she got into dance classes. She started classes and loved it. She put a lot of effort into it to better herself. She then found the world of kpop through a kpop choreographer who came to teach a masterclass at her studio. The choreographer told the class about an open audition in Chicago being held by wild entertainment, so she decided to go for it. She auditioned with a dance routine and passed, but they wanted to see what else she could do, so she auditioned again. This time, she rapped too. She passed her audition at age 14 and moved to korea with her moms to begin training.
