Mr Ambrose led me to the food table where I found chocolate, my favourite.

I took a small plate and piled chocolate on it.

I stuffed some in my mouth and noticed Mr Ambrose's left little finger twitch in amusement.

"What?" I asked him.

"Can you really eat all of those?"

I grinned with the challenge.

"Watch me."

I ate all of the chocolate for a minute.

His lips twitched upwards and went back again as if of a ghost smile.

I almost choked. I swallowed hard.

"Did you just smile?" I whispered.

"Lillian."

"Yes, Rick dear?"

"Shut up."

"Right away, Rick."

"Excuse me." someone tapped my shoulder.

I turned around to see Captain Carter.

I squealed and gave him a hug.

"Captain Carter! How are you?"

He gave me one of his signature wide grin.

"I am well, Lilly." he looked behind me.

"Oh! I forgot to introduce you two." I say tugging Mr Ambrose hand towards Captain Carter.

"Rikkard Ambrose, this is Captain Carter. He helped me when Victor and I ran away from home." I said.

"Nice to meet you." Captain Carter said extending a hand.

"Indeed?" Mr Ambrose says taking his hand.

"Ngh!" Captain Carter made a noise that I assume was because of Mr Ambrose's iron grip.

"You have quite a tight grip, sir." Captain Carter commented as Mr Ambrose let go of his hand.

"Adequate." he says before holding my hand. "Come on, Lilly."

He gently tugs me towards the dancefloor.

The slow pace came again as we danced.

"What was that about?" I asked him.

"I don't like that man. You shall not talk to him."

I gasped, "That is not fair, sir! He is my best friend and the closest thing I have of a family!" I exclaimed.

"You have a new family now."

I raised an eyebrow. "And who would that be?"

"Me. Us. The gang." he says before dipping me.

I couldn't help myself from smiling.

A new family? Mr Ambrose? My new family?

We ran off behind the curtains to a balcony.

"New family, huh?" I asked him sitting on the ledge.

"You might fall."

"What's in it for you?" I asked him standing on the ledge.

"Because I will not pay for your funeral service." he states. I sometimes forget how he loves his money so dearly.

"Oh come on, stop being so uptight Rick." I say grinning raising both my arms and a leg.

His left little finger twitched.

"Lillian Linton! Get down here right now!"

I squeaked in surprise and lost my balance.

"Oof!" I landed in Mr Ambrose's arms.

"I believe I told you to be careful."

I playfully hit him on the chest. "If you didn't startle me I wouldn't have fallen!"

"Indeed?"

"Yes sir!"

I saw what resembled a ghost smile on his face yet again.

I grinned back.

"Sahib! We must go! Lord has found us out!" Karim came running in. He froze when he saw us.

Mr Ambrose cleared his throat. "Karim, find Mr Stone and his wife. Get them out of here."

Karim bowed, "Yes, Sahib."

Mr Ambrose swiftly went through the crowds with me still in his arms.

"Get them!" Lord Dalgliesh yelled.

I hopped out of Mr Ambrose's arms, took off my stupid heels and took out my dagger as Mr Ambrose took my hand as we ran.

I looked behind to see a man gaining on us.

I threw the dagger at him as blood dripped down his forehead where I hit him and he fell.

I grinned until I looked to the side where someone was pointing a gun at me.

Mr Ambrose was quick to reach inside his tailcoat revealing a gun and shoot him at the head.

"Thanks." I mumbled as we continued to run.

"Over there!" A man shouted pinting at us as we turned the corner.

We saw Karim on a black convertible there.

"Where's Mr Stone?" I asked him as Mr Ambrose helped me in the car.

"I told them to go. We can't risk the life of Mr Stone's wife." he said before stepping on the gas pedal.

I looked back to see two cars following us.

I raised the dress up.

"Ifrit! What the bloody hell are you doing?!?" Karim shouts when he saw me at the mirror. He forcefully ripped off the front mirror and throwing it at the front seat that was vacant.

"Helping." I say as I grabbed two pistols from both legs.

I was wearing a shortened trousers from when I ripped it on a mission at the jungle underneath my dress. It reached middle thigh.

Mr Ambrose and I started shooting at the car aiming the driver and men with guns.

Bullets flew past me and gun shots were heard through out the empty street. Most people in the neighborhood were invited to the ball so it was silent and empty.

Mr Ambrose started hitting the gun holders one by one at the front car.

Aiming at the driver, I heard a shout of pain as the car swerved, spinned and hit a pole.

I grinned in victory as I continued shooting.

Sudden pain hit my chest. I groaned in pain and sat down.

Looking at my wounded chest, I glanced at the blood. Thankfully the bullet didn't go deep an was still visible. I forcefully took the bullet out and shouted in pain.

I examined it for a bit and threw it to the floor and continued to shoot.

I growled in frustration and hit a tire. It got out of control as Mr Ambrose hit the driver before it went to the sides.

I sighed in relief as we continued to drive.
