The Skater Girl (A Luke Hemmings Fan-Fic)

Chapter 4- Competition Day

  "Go Dani!" Luke says as I ride my broad down the ramp. It was the first time riding my broad with my brace but I was still rocking it.

  "Come on Ashton!" Sophia yells.

  "Hey!" I yell at her. I was in mid competition with Ashton. He really thinks he can beat me, but everyone knows he wont be able to. Today is tournament day,and my first matching was Ashton. I feel bad for him because he isn't going to make it very far in the competition. It is double elimination so he will still have a chance. Right know Ashton and I are tied. Every trick I pull of he does it right after me. I need to do something that he wont be able to do. The only problem is I don't his his ability. Then it hits me there is one trick that no one can pull of and I have only don't it once. It is worth 300 points, if I can pull this off I will win against Ashton and I will beat my old score. I mentally prepare my self and go for the trick. I had pulled it off and everyone was cheering. When I landed I felt my self wobble a little bit but I managed to stay up. I get to the side of the ramp that Luke and Calum where on and grab there hands to help pull me up. "Nice!" Calum says giving me a high five. I smile and high five him in response. 

   "You did great out there!" Luke says and hugs me. I huge him back my smile getting bigger. 

   "Ash is going to be mad though," Calum says laughing. 

   "Yeah he is one of the best skaters in the band," Luke adds. 

   "Who is the best?" I ask. Luke looks over at Calum and smiles.

   "I am," Says Calum. "And you and about to find out for your self because I am up against Luke right now." He adds picking up his bored. Luke walks down the stairs of the ramp and goes to the other side and Michael comes over to my side and stands next to me, 

   "This is going to be interesting," He says smirking. I give him a questioning look and he just points down at the ramp. Calum and Luke had just pulled first tricks and they were exactly the same. They are both very skilled skaters, and both were pulling of great tricks. My mind started to wonder if they would be able to beat my score. I turned to Michael and asked.

    "Hey Michael do you think that they could beat my new score?" I said my voice shaking. My skateboarding is one of the only things I have in my life that I am good at, the last thing I need is someone beating my score.

      "I don't think Luke can but Calum might be able to," He said looking at me. I sigh and turn back to the boys. There time was almost up, and Calum was in the lead. Is score was close to mine but not close enough to beat it. 

     "Lets go Luke!" I yell and Calum looks up at me and almost collides with Luke. The only reason they didn't hit each other was because Luke took a sharp turn and almost fell off his broad. You could hear everyone gasp, it was kinda funny really. Their time ended and Calum was coming up to my side of the ramp. I grabbed his hands and helped pull him up because he didn't have enough speed to get all the way up.  

    "Nice job out there!" I say giving him a high five. 

    "Thanks!" He says smiling.

     The pairings of the next event were me and Levi, Calum and Jacob, and Sophia and Josh. The pairings for the loser bracket were Ashton and Gage and Michael and Julianna. Not many people competed in the games today, but that is probably because it is a Sunday. They decide to go through the losing bracket first so Sophia and I were standing with the rest of the people in the winning bracket besides Calum, who knows what he is doing. "Hey Good luck guys," I say and Levi walks over to me only with Jacob and Josh. 

   "Thanks Good luck to you too," Jacob says.

   "There is going to be a party at my place after the completion is over, what to come?" Levi asks. I was just about to say yes when I thought of something. Brad. There is no way I would go to Levis house knowing that Brad might be there. I walk over to Levi and grab his arm and took him away from the group. "Can I ask you something?" I said.

   "Yeah. What is it?" He says.

   "Is Brad going to be there?" I say and I know he could here the fear in my voice because is expression changed. He puts a had on my shoulder and says, "No don't worry Dani he is not going to be there," I give him a soft smile and say, "OK I will think about it."

    The other bracket and finished and the people left where Ashton and Julianna. The first pair up for the winning bracket where Sophia and Josh. I followed Sophia to were she would be competing and saw that it was an obstacle course. First you had to pick up enough speed to get up the ramp and jump the cone and grab the first flag and then you had to weave through the cones and grab the flag at the end of that. Next you had to jump on the platform ride to the end and the pull of a trick while grabbing the last flag. The winner was determined by the time you finished how many of the flags you got and your ending trick.  

    I walked over to were Josh was standing to wish him luck. He was going to need it especially because he was up against Sophia. After I told him good luck I walked back over to Sophia. By the time I made it over to her the whistle was blown and she was off. I stood next to Calum and we started talking about who we thought was going to win. I thought Sophia was going to kick Josh's butt, but I might be wrong, Josh was good. Calum was sure that Josh was going to win, but I still had my money on Sophia. The only thing they had left was the trick and they were neck in neck. They pulled of the exact same trick, and you could here everyone in the crowd gasp including me and Calum. They both land the trick and then Sophia took a risk that could have caused her the win. She swerved her board right in front if his. Josh tried to stop but instead he land on the ground while Sophia crossed the line.

   I ran over to Josh and grabbed his hand helping him up. "Are you OK Josh?" I ask him. He just nods his head and walks away. I run over to Sophia and high five her. It may not be the best way for her to win, but hey, it works! Up next was Me and Levi. Levi was good but I know for a fact there is no way he will beat me. We got to the start and got ready to start. I high fived Sophia and the focused on the course. When I heard the word go I was off leaving Levi in the dust. I got the first couple flags with out a problem but then Levi caught up to me. "Hey girly," He said with a smug smile on his lips. We stayed neck in neck for the rest of the race. When we got to the trick and last flag I sped up so I was just a foot in front of him. I pulled off an amazing trick and sped off to get the last flag.

   I beat Levi by a few seconds so I would get to move on to the final rounds. I was going to stay to watch Calum race but Luke wanted to hang out for a little bit. I found him and told him the good news that I was moving on. We made a quick stop at the bracket so I could see who I would face next. There were only three people left on the winners bracket. Sophia would face the winner of Calums and Lucas and I had a by because there weren't enough people. Sounds good to me. Luke and I walked around the skate park for like an hour before we decided to go back and watch Sophia and Calum race. We got there just in time to see them set off. This event was just a simple and easy speed race. You had to race the length of a foot ball field this would be the event for the last event too. Sophia was ahead for most of the race but then Calum all of a sudden got the lead on Sophia and won. It was the crazy Sophia looked so mad when she saw she was beat. I ran over to her and asked what happened. She said she didn't really know. 

   There was a 5 minute break between that race and the next race which was going to be me and Calum. I was talking to Ashton who won the other bracket, so he was in third. He told me that he thought I was going to get my butt kick by Calum. Michael and Luke thought other wise. They even told me that if I beat him then they were going to throw a party at Luke's house. I really wanted this party so I had my mind on kicking Calums butt.

    I got to the starting line to see that Calum was already there. Sophia came up behind me and wished me luck. I got ready and was waiting for the word go. As soon as I heard it I was off leaving Calum behind me. I had a pretty good lead until Calum got speed and was all of a sudden right next to me. The finish line was coming up and Calum and I were neck in neck. We crossed the finish line and you could hear everyone in the crowd gasp.
