“Love me As if I’m your last.”
I walk outside my house in Gangnam District, Seoul.I breathe in the fresh air.
I see my rich neighbors taking their dogs out and walking them.
I see their children running around the district playground.
Yes, you can say that I became plentiful after I graduated at Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology with the course of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
Having a salary grade 33 (approx. 215,000 php per month), I got to buy a big house in Daechi-dong, Gangnam District.
I’m pretty happy with my life but, it got boring, having the same routine everyday.
I shop every month at Apgujeong and Cheongdam.
One day, I realized I had to take a break.
I decided to stay at Hotel Aguila, Jeju Island.
I planned to go to Jeju Glass Castle Theme Park and there I saw him.
He definitely was not Korean, although his skin was fair.
He had a beautiful pair of green eyes. Vance Azzed Vaughn, of course I’d recognize him.
We we’re best friends since our first year of college.
Who wouldn’t recognize that gleaming black hair as if waiting for it to be brushed.
I decided to say hi.
It wouldn’t be a problem to tag along with him since I know fully well that he’s alone.
I approached him and gave him my greetings, which is, of course, a slap in back.
Like all other bestfriends, he did slap me too.
“Woah, why are you here?”
“Is going here illegal?”
“I seriously thought you wouldn’t come because you looked so busy when we had a video call.”
“Well, I finished it early.”
We decided to go to a cafe near the theme park and catch up.
The last time we saw each other besides a video call was a year and a half ago.
Of course I missed him, who wouldn’t?
His charming and annoying personality was mixed very well.
If you add all my descriptions of him, you can say I am in love.
Who wouldn’t fall for him though?
He has been with me for five years and a half and I know him all too well.
I kept it with me for years now, and I can continue to keep my feelings, knowing it wouldn’t grow anymore.
After catching up, we both decided to go back to our hotels since we were already very exhausted.
There I realized, we were staying in the same hotel.
Thoughts flowed into my mind, I wonder, is this destiny?
I asked him to see me tonight at the poolside, at 11:11 p.m., he agreed.
I got nervous, what do I say?
I asked him to see me out of impulse.
This is my chance to confess.
My thoughts are getting eccentric.
It isn’t normal for me to think about love.
The probability of him accepting my confession is very low, since he doesn’t like anyone the way I do to him.
10:38 p.m. and I’m fidgety.
I am super nervous on how he will reply.
I decided to go to the poolside early.
I arrived by the pool at 10:57.
My hands are getting sweaty and there is no one else besides me and the janitor here.
11:02.
I am seriously hoping he doesn’t come.
I wish he would just sleep and forget to come here.
11:09.
Oh Gosh.
I’m panicking.
Two more minutes left.
11:11 p.m.
The elevator dinged.
He’s exactly on time.
Wow, even at times like this, he’s still punctual.
“Hey. What made you ask me at this time? You could’ve told me earlier.” He asked me.
“Oh yeah? I thought that this time would be a good timing.” Time is gold as they say.
“For what?” Timing is everything.
“To tell you that I’ve loved you since 2027.” It is actually harder to say it rather than how I pictured it in mind.
“Are you joking with me right now?” Oh no.
“No! Of course not.”
“Oh. Well, I’m sorry.”
“For what?” Don’t tell me..
“Yeah, I can’t accept your confession. I-I already have a girlfriend. I agreed to go here because I was going to tell you this. I’m sorry.” Shoot. How can I say anything?
“Oh, uh, good for you then. I’m going to go ahead and go back to my hotel room.”
I ran as fast as I can to the elevator. I looked back at him, mouthing ‘I love you’.
Of course he saw me. Yeah, I was right.
He was never going to accept.
I just knew it, by instinct I guess.
I should’ve confessed earlier and asked for him to love me, even just by little, even if it was fake.
I sure hope he’ll love her as if she was his last love.
