Melody
My green eyes wondered around the dual purple room wishing there something to do or somewhere to go as i lay here on my uncomfortable bed waiting for the mother to wake everyone else up to get ready for breakfast. if you haven't figured it out yet I'm a orphan waiting to get adopted which i doubt will happen couple come here and pick the younger kids no teenagers that are about to turn 18 to live on their own. for an example my room mate Kristy is 10 years old she got adopted by a young couple yesterday who just got married, i was happy for her I'm not going to be jealous or anything I'm counting down the days till I'm turn 18 so i can get out of this place and live on my own.
"Time to Wake up breakfast is almost done!" the mother called from downstairs, i rolled out of bed and went to my closet pulling out my favorite outfit, pink tank top and blue ripped skinny jeans with black converse. i grabbed my brush and brushed my hair into a ponytail, i looked at myself in the mirror before heading downstairs to the kitchen hopping there's still food left.
I grabbed a plat off the counter quickly since there was only two left and made my way to the huge table sitting by the mother since its the only seat left... the mother cleared her throat to get ready to speak"as you all know today is adoption day i expect you all to be on your best behavior" i sigh and continued to eat as the rest of the children whispered excitedly telling there friends how they hope they get chosen this time. the older kids like me 14-17 sat there quietly eating there breakfast , pancakes and eggs with juice. me I'm 16 years old I've been in this place for 4 years and had yet to get adopted.
Today is thankfully Saturday so no school i don't really need to go to school i know everything that there teaching my IQ is higher than the average person strange right, but they still make me go saying that i need to go to collage and get a degree in something so i can get a job make money and all that stuff.
After everyone was done eating they all scattered to their rooms to get ready for the couple that will becoming. i stayed in the kitchen cleaning the dishes then the living room as well as the play room. its my chores of the day we all have a list. i wondered around the place and stopped at the entrance were the couples were signing in look at the huge crowed in a daze, i couldn't believe there were so many people that wanted kids, someone of them brought the kids that they already have probably to make sure they as well like the kid there planning to adopt.
"Melody!" the mother yelled. i looked at her confused "did you finish you chores"she asked i nodded quickly "good can you make sure the rest are ready" i nodded once again and raced out of that room and upstairs knocking on every single door signaling them that its time. i went in to my room quickly and grabbed my hair ribbon before walking back downstairs. i searched for Emma, she's 9 years old she always wears my ribbon on these occasion's, when i found her she was standing alone looking everywhere i smiled walking up to her "hey missing something" i asked waving the ribbon she grinned turning around laughing i tired the ribbon on her ponytail perfectly "there go sweetie, go act cute"i chuckled watching her run into the crowed.
I leaned on the wall watching everyone mingle "um excuse me but were Little late mind telling us what we need to do" a female voice said behind me i turned around to see a huge group of people standing there "oh um you go to the office of there and sign in and then you get to know the kids"i informed them pointing to behind me were all the other couples are talking to the kids the women said a quick thank you before going to the office with the others following her .
A friend of mine Jack he's a year older than me walked up and stood beside of me "having fun"he asked looking down at me i shrugged "totally you" Jack shrugged "not really Emma might get adopted" i grinned at what he said it would make my day if she got adopted "i hope so" i said turning to him "she deserves it" he gave me a look saying 'so do you' i rolled my eyes and went back to looking at the crowed crossing my arms. "you look like a bodyguard not a kid waiting to be adopted" jack said laughing i glared at him "I'm not waiting to be adopted i am not a kid"i hissed i hate being called a kid i am 16 for crying out loud. jack walked away but not before saying "whatever you say melody"
"Melody!" the mother screeched i jumped turning around, she was standing with the group i looked at her with wide eyes "stop acting like a bodyguard and at least try to get adopted"she said growling my shoulder slumped i turned around and walked into the ever growing sea of parents and kids i went and sat with the teens my age with included jack "mother"jack asked i nodded crossing my arms
its been an hour and not one grown up stopped to look at us i groaned "this is so boring" the others nodded in agreement i stood up and walk away from the group and into the kitchen ignoring the group the i talked to early who are whispering and open the fridge and took out a root beer, i shut the fridge and realized the whispering stopped i looked at them for a moment before shaking my head and walking out of the kitchen and to my room the mother will never notice unless she was looking for me then yeah she's notice.
40 minutes later
i finished my drink a while ago so now I'm just looking at the ceiling in joying the peace and quite but of course it had to be ruined by jack. he walked in her and through me over his shoulder and carried my downstairs and in the office of the mother he put me down in front of the group that is basically every where i go. i looked at everyone confused i looked at the group very closely and recognized two people tony stark and pepper Potts and the rest might be guards "so I'm here why"i asked looking at the mother "your getting adopted"she said smiling i froze
wow who knew this day would come me actually getting adopted by somebody
"by who" i asked i know its someone from the group but you know "by me" the tony stark said smirking, i stood there for a second "do i have a say in this" i asked the mother panicked "nope"jack said popping the 'p' i groaned "but why me, couldn't you have chosen a boy or a younger person"i asked i turned to the mother "your letting this happen do you know how many enemy's he has i could die"i know i was being dramatic but hey i really didn't want to get adopted "and and hey is that Loki you let him in are you nuts"i yelled finally recognizing two of the 'guards' the other was Thor "no offense" i said to Loki "stop being dramatic Mel"jack said shaking his head i smirked "girl had to try"i said shrugging looking up at him he rolled his eyes "i'll go, but on one condition"i said to mister stark "i get to meet the avengers and spider man"i said smirking at him "but mostly spider man"
"Deal" was the last words tony said before he was dragged into the office to sign the papers. i walked out of the room ignoring the rest of the group i dragged jack to my room to help me pack "i cant believe i got adopted can you" my voice cracked I'm going to be leaving my friends here and i'll be going to a different school with nobody by my side. "hey it'll be okay i bet they'll let you come visit you call anytime its not a goodbye Mel" jack said soothingly i grabbed my suitcase from under my bed "i hope you right"i said i felt tears run down my face i quickly wiped them away as i unzipped the case "hey come here" i stood up and hugged jack, jack has been more then a friend to me he's my brother he's been there for me ever since i moved here.
i cleared my throat and stopped hugging jack "not a goodbye" i mumbled he shook his head i nodded and went to my closet and grabbed the shirt from the hangers and threw them into the case along with my pants shorts socks and underwear, i didn't have any shoes to pack since I'm wearing them i put my brush into the little pouch in the front and i was done.
everyone was back into the office including jack. my hand gripped tight on the handle to my suitcase, i was so nervous the thought of getting adopted never crossed my mind let alone getting adopted by tony stark and pepper Potts, that i'd be leaving my friends that i've made over the years. i think I'm in shock
"okay everything is settled say you goodbyes melody" i glared at the mother "its not a goodbye" i snarled at her before hugging jack one last time before falling the group out the door towards a huge limo
This is the start of my new life as Melody Stark
