B e f o r e

We were in the back of Jackson’s truck getting dressed as he drove towards the event. Ellie and Audrey seemed to have no trouble getting dressed where as I could not get the skin tight-leopard print-dress over my head.

“Let me help you with that,” And before I knew it the dress was to my mid-stomach with Audrey still trying to pull it down. I was beyond embarrassed in my purple cotton panties and black bra.

It was definitely time for a shopping spree.

Once I was dressed, I moved up to the passenger seat next to Jackson to start applying my makeup. My hands were shaking. You could feel the fear radiating off of me in waves. A warm hand was on my shoulder shaking me from my panicked state.

“You okay lllyse?” I had to blink twice before I could see clearly again. When I looked back at Jackson his eyes were on the road but I could tell he was still worried at me.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

I smiled at him to relieve his tension, “I’m okay.”

The warmth that had once encased my shoulder was gone and I was back to applying the black mascara.

There was no racing track. Only the deserted streets of Manhattan, New York. It had taken hours to get here. The sky was black, with no stars to light up the sky. Only the street lamps which would flicker on and off every couple of seconds.

I followed the girls, making sure to stay close behind. We were close to where the races were taking place, as you could hear the purr of the engines.

Cars of different sizes, colors, shapes, and models were lined up. Girls were hanging themselves off of the men riding the vehicles. It was disgusting.

And then there was Adrian. With his gorgeous green eyes and a beautiful Saleen S7 right by his side and his hand around a tall brunette.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

Girls were surrounding Adrian as if he were the risen Jesus. I felt mad and jealous. Mad because I don’t understand my feelings and jealous because his hand should be on my waist not hers.

I didn’t even notice when Ellie started to drag me along with her. My heels clacking against the road.  It was starting to get colder and Audrey didn’t give me a jacket to go along with the dress.

When I spotted Jason in the crowd I started to get excited. He was so good to me and he barely even knew me. Jason saw me and shot me a smile before saying goodbye to the people around him and jogging towards me.

“Hey.You having fun yet?” Jason’s smile made you want to smile as well. His personality was full of spunk.

I nod my head. “Yup.”

My gaze starts to wander back to Adrian and his groupies. And when he caught me staring I looked away making it seem as if I was still in conversation with Jason.

Jason looked over to where I was once staring before winking at me with a big 'ole smirk on his face. He took my hand and started to lead me over to where the girls were,

“Come on the races are about to start.”

Four different types of cars were lined up and down the dark street. The grand prize was one-hundred thousand dollars.

“Go Adrian! Whoooo!” My screams were loud and ferocious but I didn’t give a damn. The people around me were doing ten times worst.

Audrey, Ellie and I were all holding hands in anticipation. Hoping that Adrian would win.

They are skidding across the road and were going so fast you could barely even see the car. For a minute it all went quiet and when Adrian’s car made it over the red line on the black street, it was like Mardi Gras.

When he got of the car he wasn’t even smiling. As if it was just another win and that he didn’t just pocket one-hundred thousand dollars.

We all walked over to where Jason and Jackson were leaning against the side of Jackson's truck. Jackson had his arm around Audrey and I while Jason slung his arm around Ellie. And when a dark blush bloomed on her cheeks we started giggling like little girls.

Audrey and I shared a knowing look.

Ellie’s got a crush.

“That guy over there is staring at you Lyse.” I looked over at the direction Ellie was pointing at and saw a very attractive male.

“Mmm. He is fine. If you don’t want him I’ll take him,” Audrey winked one of her blue eyes at me.

I shouldn’t even be thinking about other guys. I have the perfect boyfriend and he is more than amazing.

When he doesn’t hit me.

“You know your little boyfriend isn’t here, so why not have some fun.” It was like she knew exactly what I was thinking.

I smiled at Audrey, showing my thanks before taking confident strides to this very gorgeous man. When his eyes saw me coming towards me they lit up,

"Hey." My voice posessed an aire of confidence that I've never had before.

"Hello, gorgeous!" His voice had a certain roughness to it. "I've never seen you around here before, where are you from?"

I pushed my brown hair to my right shoulder, leaving my neck bare.

"Just a little north of here actually," He was staring.

I started to squirm under his gaze but tonight was a night to have fun so I let go of that feeling.  He raised his hand, tracing it along the side of my neck.

"What's your name?" He sent goosebumps down my spine... were they good or bad?

 "lllyse."

He nodded, " A beautiful name for a beautiful girl. My name is Liam."

And before I could say anthing else Liam's lips were on mine, moving aggressively. But I didn't like the way he kissed me.. it felt weird.. wrong even.

Before I could stop it, I was pushed to the ground by something with a lot of strength. I looked up from my position on the road to see Adrian have the guy- who I was formerly making out with -over the hood of one of the cars and beating the shit out him.

I was frozen as if all I could do was stare at the scene unfolding infront of me.

A hand grabbed my shoulder taking me out of my trance like state, “lllyse come on! Let’s go.”

When I saw Jason was the one who was pulling me away, I let him seat me in the backseat of Jackson’s car with Audrey and Ellie.

It took Jackson, Jason and two other buff men to get Adrian to stop. He started to walk away but I got out of the car and started to go after him.

 “Adrian.” He didn’t stop.

“Adrian.” He slowed his pace with his hands deep in the pockets of his blue denim jeans.

I rolled my eyes at him. Not that he could see it anyway. I ran in front of him and put my hands on his shoulders to stop him from going anywhere.

How the hell does he have shoulder muscles?

Adrian’s eyes were dark and angry, they made me shiver a little.

"Are you okay?" My voice was not confident. I was scared but not of him but for him.

He didn't answer me. I nodded my head, and when I turned around I knew he was watching my ever move.

A/N

This chapter is now rewritten. Mostly just the ending was changed but I didn't like how fast I was making everything go so I changed it. Enjoy:)
