I sat on the bench at the park and stared into the pond. I'm really confused. I should've known something was weird about Michael that day he picked up on the side of the road. I threw a rock into the pond as my mother appeared next to me in human form so it wouldn't look weird.
"Tamara, you need to listen to me and I mean listen good,"
I rolled my eyes. Here she goes again with these motherly lectures. "Okay," I huffed.
She thumped me upside the head. "You need to change your ways. Sleeping around isn't cute. You could a STD or pregnant. Not once have I seen you use protection with these boys out here. Not once! At least make them pull out. Do you want to end up like me? Pregnant at sixteen because you are at that age. You will be alone and hurt and you will feel worthless. Do you want that,"
Her eyes pierced through the side of my head as I looked into the pond and held my head down. "No," I mumbled.
"I didn't think so. And fix your face. Your weren't holding your head down when you were messing around these little boys. I wish I could've been down here sooner, but I had some issues pertaining to getting here," She lightly chuckled.
"Mom, I gotta get it how I live. Nobody else is looking out for me. And I do make them pull out. That stuff stinks," I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Yeah. I would know, but it's not cute. If you get pregnant, I guarantee you won't know who the father is. You'll be just like me. Pin pointing the wrong person," She sighed. "I honestly didn't know. I really didn't,"
I nodded. I would know who it is too because I only let one person come in me recently and that was Zoey. It was that day in the car neither one of us had a condom and I really wanted it and so did he. A smirk curled upon my face as I reminisced about that day. My mother began snapping her fingers in my face.
"Have you ever made love, Bahja," She addressed me by my middle name.
"Yeah. I have,"
She looked at the clock on her wrist and gasped. "Ooops. Sorry love, but mommy has to go," She kissed my cheek then disappeared.
I stood up and began walking toward my car when my phone began ringing. I dug my phone out of my back pocket then looking at the caller I.D I answered.
"Quan," I sung while opening my car door and sliding into my driver's seat then putting the keys in the ignition and starting up the car. "Quan!" I yelled into the phone again.
"Oh. Sorry. Hey, I heard you foolin' with Legacy again,"
"No. He wish I was. Who you hear that from," I began backing out of the parking lot.
"He came back to Atlanta bragging about y'all hookin up again," He paused. I guess he was waiting on me to say something. "I guess you guys did," I heard him mumble something, but I couldn't understand what he was saying.
"Um, I think I'm coming back tonight. I can't take it up here anymore. See you in a few hours, love," I hung up the phone and sped toward my hotel.
×10 hours later×
I boarded off the plane and walked toward my father's car. I got in then turned my body toward him.
"Dad, I'm sorry for leaving you. I just felt like you didn't care about me anymore. You were always busy with work and your mom was too old to teach me about sex and stuff and I know you didn't want to give me the talk since I'm your only daughter," I giggled.
He chuckled. "Sweetheart, I'm so sorry that you felt that way. And you're right, I didnt want to give you that talk,"
I nodded. "Understandable,"
I leaned into the seat of the car and closed my eyes for the ride home. I didn't sleep, I just thought. My mind was roaming. I couldn't stop thinking about my conversation earlier with Quan. He sounded kind of mad, but I guess that's him showing his "brotherly" love. I opened my eyes as we pulled into the driveway of our home. I opened my car door and began walking into the house. He looked up when he heard me walk in. He stood up and began walking toward me. He engulfed me into a hug as I wrapped my arms around his waist as he wrapped his arms around my shoulders. I laid my head into his stomach and inhaled his scent. Calvin Klein. We stayed in this position for a few minutes then I lifted my head up toward him.
"I guess you did miss me," I stated with a giggle.
"Yeah. I did," He chuckled.
"I missed you too," I flicked his nose then slipped out of his hold and began walking toward the stairwell.
"Come on. I have alot to tell you," I smiled and began jogging up the stairs.
I walked into my room with Quan not too far behind me.
"You bring your laptop," I asked while sitting at my desk as he laid onto my bed.
"No. I didn't think I'd need it," He chuckled.
I shook my head and laughed lightly. "Well, I needed you to do some background check on this lady,"
"Why,"
"My aunt told me to stay away from her and this boy, Michael, that I met as well as Legacy. She said they wanted me dead," I paused as chills went down my spine. "That's why I'm back,"
"Damn. It's good you did come back,"
"Yeah. I don't even know this lady like that. Probably was jealous of my mom," I shrugged. The room fell silent. "I met this boy. He's really nice," I smiled.
"Name," Quan sat up and ran his fingers through his hair as he began to twist on different strands.
"His name is Zoey. I don't think I'll be able to date him since his mom wants me dead," I ran my fingers through my hair, mocking Quan.
A small laugh left his lips. "I think it would be safer if you didn't,"
I laughed then stood up and walked over to him and sat on the bed beside him. "Enough about me. What's been up with you, bruh,"
"Nothing. Besides me isolating myself from everybody,"
"Why," I looked at him with wondering eyes.
He shrugged nonchalantly. "I just did,"
I nodded. "Okay," I looked down at my feet.
"Tamara,"
"Hmm," I looked up to see his eyes staring into my face.
"You wanna know something,"
I nodded. "Like what,"
He laughed. "You ugly,"
I gasped then hit his arm while laughing. "I am quite fine," I giggled while flipping my hair. "You ugly then, nigga,"
He laughed again. "Nahh. Bitches love me,"
"Whatever," I stood up. "Come on. Lets go get some pizza or something,"
"You paying," He stood up beside me.
"Psh. You wish. We can split half,"
"Deal,"
