Cinema. 7 pm. There I was. Sitting on a bench in front of it, waiting for Liam. I looked right, left, everywhere.

There! On the other side of the street. I walked over to him.

“Hey!” I said.

“Hi.” He hugged me.

“I thought, maybe we could do something different.” I said to him. I knew a really cute place at the Thames, barely anyone knew. We’d be all alone.

“Okay, I guess.” Liam said.

We walked side by side and didn’t really talk.

“And? How was yesterday? Did you get far?” I asked him to break the silence.

“Huh?” Liam asked.

“With the song, album, whatever you’re doing in the recording studio.”

“Oh, yeah. We finished a song. I guess it’s gonna be pretty good. It was mixed today, so we’ll probably get it later tonight.” Liam said. And with that our conversation started. We couldn’t shut up until we got to the place, where I led us.

We were basically standing in front of a huge wall of ferns, reeds and tares.

“Are we…?” Liam started his question.

“Yes, we are.” I answered and walked into it. Liam followed me.

“I knew, you’d do something like that, Dev.” Liam said.

“Yeah?”

The thicket decimated and we were on a meadow, covered in flowers. Apple trees were all around us and in front of us a small offshoot of the Thames On the other side were some trees from a park.

“Wow this is beautiful. And I even knew something like that would happen.” Liam said.

“Really? Am I that easy to figure out?”

“No, I just think I know you quite well, meanwhile.” Liam replied quietly and looked at me.

I blushed and sat down on the grass in the middle of the meadow. Liam sat down next to me, but kept some distance.

“It’s impressive, that you know so much about this city already.” Liam said after we were silent for a while. “You didn’t live here for all your life, did you?”

“No, I didn’t. How do you know?” I asked.

“Your accent.”

Right.

“So, how do you know places like this? Or the backyards?” Liam asked.

“Well, my mum is pretty history obsessed and likes to visit the more hidden places, I probably got that from her. And I know a few people, who have lived around here for more than 20 years. When I know people, I like talking to them.”

“So you like me?”

“Do I?” I asked and perked up my eyebrows. Liam laughed.

“You talk to me. A lot.”

“Yes, I do. And you talk to me too. A lot.” I replied.

“I guess I like you then.” Liam said and we both laughed. Then we went silent. I looked up to the sky and there were actually some stars visible. From the corner of my eye, I could see Liam looking up too.

“Only like?” I asked carefully and risked a look at Liam.

“I don’t know.” He turned to me. “What about you?”

“Well, there’s this guy. I think I don’t just like him, but I don’t know how he feels about me.” I answered. He should figure it out himself. I couldn’t just say ‘Liam, I like you more than just as a friend’.

“Oh.” Liam said and turned away. “Do I know him?”

“You know him pretty well, actually.” I replied and smiled.

“Please don’t say it’s Harry. Or one of the other boys.” Liam said slightly annoyed.

“No, not at all. You know him better. And way longer. For all your life, actually.”

Liam went silent.

So we sat there, didn’t talk to one another, looking at the stars, the flowers, the river, the trees.

After, what seemed an eternity, Liam turned to me again. “Me?”
