Upside Down

one

         I heard the muffled sound of my alarm clock sounding from under my covers. I groaned and tapped the off button on the clock and sat up. I opened my curtains, even though the sun wasn't up yet, and turned my body to the side of the bed. My feet hit the cold wood floor and I hissed as I stood up. "What is it with this cold weather?" I asked myself.

        I put on my workout clothes and headed to the Packhouse gym. That thing is huge! I took the stairs down and finally arrived. I slipped inside to find nobody there. I looked at my phone and reviewed the workout that Alpha Sean set up for me. Man he's a douche.
        

         As I finished the workout I was assigned, I walked out of the gym. "I don't care what Alpha says, I'm taking the elevator," I whispered to myself. I pressed the number '6' and ascended to my floor. I stepped into my room and ran into the shower, as I only had thirty minutes left to get ready.

        I stepped out of the shower and dried off. I grabbed the clothes that I set out for myself to wear and put them on. A simple black t-shirt and white ripped jeans. I stepped out of the bathroom and slung my backpack onto my shoulder. I slipped on my checkered vans and went back to the elevator. I pressed the number '1' and felt my body drop with the elevator.

      I arrived on the first floor and ran out of the elevator and out of the house. I started to slow down as I walked to the school. Our pack had our own school, we couldn't risk humans finding us of course. I made it to the school and stepped inside the doors and checked into the school. I waited in the lobby for my friends. Dega, Madison, and Siqorra. We're all 16 and in the 10th grade. I soon saw the short curly blonde hair of Siqorra's and saw her walk toward me. "Siqorra!" I yelled when I saw her. I could see the red hair of Dega and the blonde hair of Madison.

       They opened the door and walked in walking straight toward me. Suddenly Siqorra spoke up, "my wolf has been talking about my mate. It's weird, Parker has never done that." Dega took a deep breath, "speaking of mates, I found mine yesterday." My eyes widened and in unison we all asked, "who?" Her face lit up as she said the boy's name, "Aidan. His wolves name is Max and while I was at Madison's he walked into the room and we yelled mine at the same time. He's perfect really." I gave her a wink, "told you." She punched my arm, "whatever."

      The bell rang and I went to my first period. I sat in the little desk that was assigned to me. Right next to Jonah, Gracie, and Aubrey. History was a boring subject, all the teacher does is give us worksheets. I sat waiting for him  to say my name.

     "Here," I said finally starting to look at the worksheet. True or false, easy. I filled in the answers and started doodling on my paper. When will I find my mate? I mind linked Gracie, "Have you found your mate yet?" She mind linked me right back, "yeah. Kameron is the best mate I could have." I hung my head low and stayed like that throughout the class.

       As the bell rang I walked out of class and into the crowded hallway. I waited by the history door for Madison. We had p.e. together since we play bigger roles in the pack. We share p.e. with only a few others. Madison is the heir, while I am the Beta. Some of the best hunters and scouts are also in that class. I saw her walk toward me and we started walking to the school gym. "What do you think coach is going to do with us today?" I looked at Madison, "I heard that we have a run day." Madison hummed, "run days are fun. Especially when we get to run with the boys they're funny." I rolled my eyes, "you're all about boys aren't you? Hopefully your mate will deal with you."

         We made it to the gym and set our stuff down and got on our exercise spots. The bell rang and our gym coach spoke up. "Today we'll have a free day. You can play volleyball, basketball, play with jump ropes, or hula hoop." I stood up and walked toward Madison. "Volleyball?" She asked. I nodded and started getting in the circle that was forming. I was in between Kylie and Jonah. Madison was between Bradley and Skye.

        "Time seems to fly when you're having fun," Madison said, walking with me to my next class. Us two and a few others had counseling third. They're trying to coax our wolves to come out. "Yeah," I agreed and walked into the building. We walked into the counselors office and sat in the chairs. She had a mini classroom, since there's always been a few who's wolves wouldn't come out. Or, they didn't have a wolf. The classroom started filling, and by filling I mean the other three came in together. Jess, Franny, and James. I always wondered if James had one of them as a mate.

         After we finished the lesson about people who don't get their wolves until they're older, we started the activity. She picked partners and Madison was with James and I, Jess Franny, and the teacher were in a group. Our assignment was to draw what we thought our wolves would look like. I drew a dark grey wolf with black paws. Madison drew a white wolf, with grey paws. James drew a simple black wolf. I looked at James when his head snapped roughly to look at Jess. "I heard that." I drew my eyebrows inward in a confused look. "I think that's my wolves name. Jack." Then in happened. Right in front of me James shifted. The sound of crackling bones made me shiver. He was a massive wolf with black fur and piercing green eyes, like the ones he had in real life. He blinked and looked at the teacher. I heard the mind link that they had and she rushed to her drawers, quickly getting clothes. She handed them to, James and he closed his jaws onto the clothing and walked to the bathroom outside of the hall.

       "That was exciting," the counselor chirped. I crossed my arms, "I want to shift." Madison patted my back and the bell rang. Off to forth period. I agriculture that period. Meaning that I get to play on my phone and not pay attention.  I walked to that classroom and sat in my desk. And hour felt like a minute as the bell rang. It was time for me to go home. I didn't have to take all seven classes since I have training. I walked with Madison back to the packhouse. "So what's your second workout for the day?" She asked looking at me.

      I briefly explained it and she told me she had the same one scheduled. We worked out together until nighttime. I ate when I got to the omega floor and headed to my room. I jumped into bed and laid down looking at my ceiling. Wondering if I would ever find a mate.
