"You should give up," the doctor said plainly. He said it without blinking, probably thinking about the pay check he would get tomorrow.
"Please scan again!!" I plead back to him. I see his eyes go black. He uses his power, X-ray, to scan me for any of my own powers.
"I'm sorry son," he said, still without empathy, "you have no Qulara, it just didn't form. If you can't make Mana then you have no natural ability!"
"That's got to be wrong! Right-" he cuts me off.
"Kaname!" I glare at him, "Sorry, Zero, your 18 now! If your Qulara had formed it would have given you powers at a young age!" His voice was still emotionless, he didn't care about me, or my dreams. I get up, he glances at the wallet in my pocket. As I walk out the lady at the desk look at me expectantly.
"Well?"
"Nope, I don't have any." I say in responce to the incoming question.
"I'm sorry kid, I wish I could help you...."
"Me too," the lady was Ms. Icora, she was a nice lady that ran the front desk of the large, glass, half cylinder that was the only cheep Check-up office in New London. She had a bad, aggressive cancer in her arm. It would eventually kill her. I started talking to her the first time I came here. I pay her the 60$ for the check up then walk out the automatic sliding glass door to the foggy New London air. A school of fish flew by me almost hitting me.
"Ya' Stupid fish!! Your gonna kill someone!!" One of them screeches back at me in some sort of crude response. The air in the small tariformed moon of new london was so thick with H2O that humans and fish could breath in it. It was the Water family's territory, they out of all the family's had the most beautiful worlds, of course that comes with some downsides. One being all the tourists I think as I wade though a group of 30 people, all with water proof cameras.
I'm hear because my mother and father were party of the Water family. And I know what your thinking, no incest was involved! There are 5 main families. Water, air, fire, earth, and volt. Then, there are 2 royal families, Gravity and Light. Your put in a family based on the element your born with. You CAN'T be born with 2 elements. And if your father and mother are different elements the one with the stronger element wins out and that one is passed to the child. There are exceptions, they are called Irregulars- a Scream bread is be from my thoughts.
Blue flames spring out of a building nearby. I see a person in the 3rd floor if the building. I run over and join the crows of people around the house. Out of all the world's, you'd think the water family's would have a decent fire department. Of course that won't do anything. I look at the fire, and actually notice the blue flames. A water fire? A waterfire is a condensed area of water that loves so fast it rips skin and other things on contact, it was given the name waterfire because of the way it acts like fire.
The girl in the window of the building looks terrified."What are you doing!! Help me!!" She yells frantically at the crowd. The mother and another kid, presumably a sibling are crying up at the girl in the building.
"We cant!" Some people yell back. The family only crys more. I blink once, and in that blink my desition is made, "Like hell you can't help her," I mutter. I push through the crowd and burst through the door of the "burning" home. The waterfire is eating everything, including the foundation of the house! Planks of water resistant wood fall down everywhere. Because if the friction of the waterfire against the water in the air the room is REALLY hot and smoke is rising out of where the waterfire hits the stone foundation.
I find the stairs and rush to the top floor. I burst through the wall into the room the girl is in, because the door was blocked by the waterfire. By this time, there is a lot of smoke in my lungs, and I'm coughing constantly, "COME ON!!" I yell between coughs at the girl. She follows me through the "burning" house. On the way out, I get hit 2 times by waterfire. My right shoulder is bleeding badly along with my left side. We stumble out of the house. Once at a safe distance, I fall to the ground, breathing heavily. The family runs over first. The Girl meets them half way. I pay down on my back and admire the flying fish as I hear the first sounds of sirens.
