He tried to push the thoughts of her moving away from his head, it was the last thing he wanted to be thinking of but then again, she was walking out of his life right before his eyes. Gaby had found another opportunity after the season of sytycd ended and she knew it was good one even though she was leaving behind her friends. And Frank supported her completely with the move and it was settled, they'd leave for Chicago the morning after the finale. And the hellish day had come to when Gaby was leaving. Robert found himself looking around for Taylor, the usually wide-eyed teen was no where to be found in the studios and apparently neither was Lex since Robert stumbled into Gaby looking through the rooms as well. "Hey Gabs.." he says when he almost knocked her over, wrapping an arm around her waist to catch her. "Hey Roberto, have you happen to see Lex?" Gaby asks, steadying herself on her feet as she looked around the current room they were at.
"No, I was looking for Taylor so I'm guessing they're with each other." Robert replied as they continued down the hallway. "Name one time they're not together." Gaby joked.
"They're probably sleeping somewhere." Robert chuckled, opening a door to one of the small rooms, finding both Taylor and Lex asleep on the floor. Taylor was curled up on Lex's chest, he was half awake while Taylor was clearly passed out. "Hey lovebirds, don't mean to bother you but we got to go to the final dress rehearsal." Gaby says as Lex groans.
"Just five more minutes, she didn't get a lot of sleep last night." Lex says, holding Taylor closer to him. "Five and then you both better be out on stage, or we're coming back." Robert replied as they left the room and headed towards the stage. They walked in silence for a few moments, Robert finding a moment to spark a conversation, "It's crazy to think you're moving to Chicago."
"Yeah, but I'll make trips out here, I'm not forgetting about LA or any of you." Gaby says.
"You'll have a great time there." Robert replied, forcing a smile to his face as they went their separate ways when they reached the stage, Gaby headed over to Jenna and Allison, who were both going over choreography with Kiki, Sydney, and Logan. Robert slumped down in one of the chairs and looked at his phone, a few minutes later, someone looked over his shoulder. "Is Gaby's Instagram all you ever look at?" Taylor asks, resting her head on his shoulder.
"Why do you always say that so loud?" Robert questions, leaving the app and going to his home screen. "Because one of these days, she is going to hear me and something may happen." Taylor shrugged, yawning a little bit as Lex made his way over to Gaby, "You do know that you're partially all she ever talks about, like when I talk to her, I've never heard her say a thing about her boyfriend."
"The question is have you asked about him?" Robert asks, refusing to mention Gaby's boyfriend's name.
"Many, many times." Taylor answered with a laugh, "Also I eavesdrop just a little bit and I heard some things from Jenna-"
"What'd you hear from Jenna." Robert questions cutting her off.
"Just because I eavesdrop doesn't mean I'm a spy." Taylor replied as she got up and went over to Lex. "Yes it does!" Robert yells after her.
//after the finale//
Robert was proud to see the journey that Taylor had gone on and he was happy that he had been apart of it but thus came the time he had been dreading, his goodbye to Gaby. They hadn't seen each other much at all that night, either having press or being at opposite sides of the party the entire night. Jenna and Gaby were basically joint at the hip the entire night, not wanting to leave each other. Robert was trying to hide how much he was upset by her leaving but his little sidekick, Taylor, saw everything. In the final minutes of the party, Taylor came up beside him and says, "You should just tell her how you feel before she leaves, so you don't have any regret."
"Why would I wanna mess up our friendship?" he asks.
"Do you wanna regret never telling her?" Taylor questions with a raised eyebrow, finding her moment to walk away as Gaby came over to him, "Hey Roberto." Gaby smiled.
"Hey Gabs, could I talk to you outside for a moment?" he asks and she agreed, them both leaving the party, going to the cooler outdoors. "So what did you wanna talk about?" Gaby asks, looking up into his eyes. It's not or never he repeated to himself a few times, before saying, "Gaby I just wanted to know before you left that I love you and I always have, since the first time I met you but I never said anything because of you being in a relationship, I know you're still in one now but I don't wanna regret anything and I just love you." Robert rambled and Gaby looked at him with a half shocked, half relieved expression.
"I have loved you too, but I'm with him and I'm moving with him... This isn't me completely shutting you out, this is me saying that I love you but I have him too." Gaby says as Robert pulled her close. "I just wish this wasn't goodbye."
"Neither do I but Rob one thing before I go." Gaby says and he looked down at her.
"What's that?" he asks and she leaned up, giving a quick kiss, and he couldn't hide the smile that had grown on his face. "This isn't goodbye, I will see you soon and we'll figure this out." Gaby says.
"We will." he nodded, kissing her gently one last time as she smiled at he widely.
"Goodbye for now Roberto."
"Goodbye for now Gab." he replied as she hugged him a final time and walked back towards the party, glancing back at him one final time with a smile. "I'll see you soon." she says as she stepped back inside and Robert sat outside the party, a smile plastered to his face as the first deafing sound rang through the room, making the entire party go silent for a moment and soon screams of tear replaced the once happy atmosphere. Ten single shots were fired even before 911 could be called and everyone knew something went horribly wrong as dancers and other members of the party started to fall, starting with Taylor.
