Chapter 15: Fallen But Not Forgotten

   Alan woke to the sounds of screams and gun fire. He quickly put on his helmet and ran outside only to see Kaine's army attacking. He looked around him and saw his men in chaos. He yelled, "Get your shit together soldiers and push these ugly sons of bitches back!" His commanding voice raised the troops' spirits and as one, they started pushing the attacking Mutants out of their defensive line.

Alan kept sending 5.56 rounds into the Mutant's skulls with fearsome accuracy as his army pushed them out of their defensive positions. He growled in anger as he heard the click of an empty magazine and threw a powerful punch straight into a Super Mutant's throat, crushing it's windpipe. He then quickly reloaded and looked around. He saw Chris and Justin mowing down Super Mutants left and right. Their teamwork was frightening and supreme as Chris mowed down any Super Mutant dumb enough to try attacking Justin's unguarded back while Justin mowed down any Super Mutant he saw with his golden plated mini-gun. Next, he saw Sora and Emily holding the right flank with fearsome ease. Finally, he saw Rin torching any Super Mutant close to her just in front of him.

Alan noticed a wounded soldier nearby and said, "Soldier I want you to go and send word to the BoS that we need reinforcements." The wounded soldier nodded and as quickly as he could, he ran off to deliver the request and to seek medical help. Suddenly a scream pierced the air, causing Alan to snap his head forward. There he saw Rin being lifted in the air with a bumper sword going straight through her stomach. Everything went into slow motion as Alan watched as Rin was kicked off the bumper sword and the Super Mutant stood above her to finish her off. Alan growled in pure rage and sprinted as fast as he could towards them.

Alan put up Salvation and drew out Oblivion as he ran. He slammed Oblivion straight through the Super Mutant's gut and brutally kicked the dying Super Mutant off his sword. He then grabbed the falling bumper sword's handle and with a great show of strength, starting killing every Super Mutant that was around him. He finally got tired after forming a circle around him of dead Super Mutants. He threw the bumper sword into the back of a Super Mutant and quickly knelled down next to the still breathing Rin. He gently took her helmet off and looked down at Rin with sorrow filled eyes.

Rin looked up at him before a coughing fit over took her, causing blood to fly from her mouth. She looked back at him and ask, "P-p-p-permission to spe-e-e-eak fr-eely sir?" Alan slowly nodded his head, not trusting his voice to not with sorrow and pain. Rin smiled slightly and said, "Ma-y-y I have a-a-a ki-s-ss sir-r-r?" Alan took off his helmet as another coughing fit over took Rin and with a heavy heart, he leaned down before planting a soft kiss on Rin's blood stained lips. As he pulled away, tears started falling from his eyes as Rin's chest stopped raising and falling.

Alan grabbed Oblivion as he slowly stood up and put his helmet back on. He looked up and saw a behemoth lumbering towards him. With a scream so filled with so much pain and sorrow, Alan sprinted towards the behemoth. He swiftly side stepped the behemoth's over head strike and kicked off its arm and onto its knee before leaping towards its head. He raised Oblivion over his head and he made it to the behemoth's head, he swung down with all his might, burying Oblivion into its skull and causing the sword's blade to snap in two at the hilt. He then kicked off its chest, sending it falling backwards. Alan landed on top of a poor Super Mutant's back, breaking its spine and stood up. He turned around and saw his cheering troops along with the BoS members. He then turned and walked back to Rin's dead body before falling to his knees. He slowly took her destroyed flamer off and put her hands over her stomach before putting Oblivion's broken hilt in her hands. She may have fallen, but she will always live on in his memory.
