Happy Birthday Malfoy
Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville stood mouth agape in Malfoy Manor as muggle music blasted around them.
"Champagne spilling, you should taste that. I'm so fancy! You already know! I'm in the fast lane from LA to Tokoyo! Can't you taste this gold? Remember my name, 'bout to blow." It was such typical Malfoy music, even when Muggle, that it almost hurt not to roll their eyes.
"Is that..Is that Malfoy?" Hermione asked as they stood listening to the loud musical styling's of their ex-nemesis. He was singing so loud they could hear him from downstairs. They could hear his footsteps as he danced, presumably around his room.
"Do you think this is a trap? I mean, they didn't even send a house elf to the floo." Neville asked, looking around the empty parlor.
"Is that strange?" Hermione asked, knowing Neville was the expert in this field. Even Ron's knowledge couldn't compare as his situation was different from the norm.
"For a pureblood? Most definitely. Someone should have been here to greet us. Besides, me getting invited to Draco Malfoy's birthday party? Get real. It has to be a trap." Neville muttered back, his hand on his wand, ready to fight his way out if necessary. Still, Draco sang like he didn't know they were here. Maybe they were too early?
"Draco Lucius Malfoy, you turn that incessant Muggle music down this instant! What will the family think when they hear us listening to this?" Narcissa called up the stairs from somewhere on their level.
"I didn't ask for the family to come over! It's MY birthday, why must I entertain a bunch of narcissistic pureblood arsewipes." Even Harry's mouth popped open to that as Draco continued to sing, oblivious to their shock and confusion.
"Draco!"
"Alright! I'll put on classical but I don't have to stay talking to them about how much I look like my father for more than an hour."
"Very well but at least wear a tie!"
"Yes Mother!" Draco Malfoy came bounding gracefully down the steps in muggle jeans and a white dressy button up shirt with a dark blue tie hung loosely around his neck, a light blue cloak left open and trainers. Narcissa walked into the Parlor at precisely the same moment but they hardly noticed her.
They gaped, it was all they could do. Draco gaped back.
"Oh good! You're here. A bit early but here all the same." Narcissa said, breaking the awkward moment. Their mouths all snapped audibly shut.
"Mother? You knew about this?" Draco eyed them suspiciously, playing with the small diamond stud in his right ear as though it were a nervous habit. It probably was.
"Yes dear. It was a surprise for your birthday! I know how upset you were that Pansy and Blaise couldn't make it and I despaired. I didn't want you to be without friends at your party. You haven't had a proper party since you were fifteen and it's not every day a young wizard turns twenty so you have to have a party. Since you told me how you've become best friends with them—" She waved her hand toward the four Gryffindors who widened their eyes and tried not to sputter "I've invited them! But don't worry, your secret is safe from the prying eyes of the paper. They used the Floo straight here and it was warded against unwanted entry."
"I...um, thank you Mother." Draco went up to her and kissed her cheek, his face a deep shade of red he couldn't contain.
"I'm glad you like it dear. I'm still setting up. Show your friends to your room if you'd like." With that she swept out of the room. Still no one else spoke.
