"Sohyun-ah!", a girl with long fiery red hair screamed at the top of her lungs. She was holding onto her unconscious friend who's now inches from falling down a steep cliff. It was supposedly a fun hike up the mountain for the two best friends but they somehow ended up having themselves on the verge of death, at least one of them is..

"Wake up Sohyun-ah! You can't die here! We can't die here!", she tried waking her friend up but to no avail.

She saw her friend's life flash before her eyes.

The Mayor's perfect daughter.

The university's student council president.

The town's adopted daughter.

A lot is at stake if she were to die.. And she can't afford to let that happen.

Sohyun has always been by her side since they were little.

The only person who befriended her when others would just treat her as invisible.

The only person who was there when her father left her all alone after her mother died when she was 12.

The only person who believed her when she was accused of stealing sheep when she was just aiding the animal who was stuck on the owner's gate.

The only one who trusts her.

The only family she has left.

And at that moment, she has decided.. It's more sensible if she were to die. She was way more to lose than her. What is a troubled orphan compared to everybody's sweetheart anyway. Nobody would mourn or miss her, she thought.

Alas, at one final pull with all the strength she has left, she pulled Sohyun up, shifting her weight towards the ground for extra support.

She successfully saved Sohyun.

But she is now the one holding onto some rooted tree. She smiled at the unconscious Sohyun. Relieved that at least her best friend is safe for now.

"So this is how I die..", she scoffed a bit, laughing at the situation she is now. She's tired. Way too tired to keep holding on and wait for help.

She was almost crying. But she keeps stopping her tears from falling. She can't cry. She won't cry. Not anymore. Not now.

She felt her eyelids become heavier. She just can't hold on any longer.

At one final look at her best friend..

She let go of the tree root.

She let go of all the hardships she's facing.

She let go of all the pain.

She let go.

Finally.
