I ran a wire brush through my ruler straight hair. My face was done up neatly with makeup. Blush was carefully dotted along my cheekbones, creating a sophisticated look. My greens had a dusting of golden eye shadow across them and my lashes were extended to their maximum length with jet-black mascara. I perfected my pout with a light nude lipstick and a matching coating of gloss was spread across. My now slimmer body was clad in a little black dress, it was sexy yet respectable. I would be prancing around the alpha dinner in cheetah print peep toe pumps. In my hand I held a gold clutch, which contained anything I could possibly need.

Glancing at the clock, it was five thirty. The time was passing quickly, but no quick enough. I was beyond excited, though I was quite nervous to be around such important people. I didn’t know any of them, and that only made matters worse. The only thing keep me excited was the idea of having Jason’s arm around my waist.

Ever since he asked me on this date, I have been seeing him in a new light. In my mind, he now shined. Possibly brighter then all of the stars in the night sky combined. I couldn’t get his face or voice out of my head. He was starting to affect me in a way that only mates could affect each other, but he wasn’t my mate. It was all quite strange and I would never fully understand it.

Finally, the doorbell rang. I hurried down the steps to open it, but my mom already had; making me look desperate. In my presence, stood Jason; clad in a black suit with a bunch of peach colored flowers. He looked like he was trying to impress, but not trying to hard. He looked like a sex god, possible like the man in my best dreams.

After noticing my longing stares, he shot me a smirk and raised his full eyebrows at me. My parents questioned him for what seemed like hours before they finally ushered us out of the house.

Jason was the perfect gentle man on our date. As we approached his car, he released my hand and rushed ahead to grab the door for me. He climbed into the car and smiled sheepishly as if asking for my approval, which I granted him with a bright smile.

“You look flawless.”

My heart froze; it was the first time I was directly listens to something Jason was saying. His voice ignited flames into my heart and they flew all the way down to my core.

I turned my head his way and blushed, knowing that he could smell my arousal. I had my hand rested on the center console, when his large hand unexpectedly engulfed my small one. His approval caused me to loosen up some. I couldn’t help but feel the dramatic spark that consumed my when our hands collided.

The rest of the car ride was uneventful and silent, but not awkward. When we arrived at the huge alpha mansion, Jason quickly hoped out of the car and opened the door for me. I smiled as he connected our hands while we entered the large majestic building.

As we stepped through the door heads turned our way. The girls were eyeing Jason and sending me killer glares. The guy had their eyes glued to me, but didn’t look too impressed. I suddenly felt beyond self-conscious. Why didn’t the male wolves take interest in me? So what if I didn’t like them, it would have been a confidence boaster if they liked me. Jason squeezed my hand tightly, reading my open thoughts.

As if he was the president, all of the males surrounded Jason. They greeted him with the standard man to man handshake. After most of them cleared out, one stayed behind. He had long shaggy blonde hair and ocean blue eyes, a surfer boy.

“Hey, you must be Alice! I’m Lance, Jason’s best friend.”

“Hello Lance!” I shot him a smile, because his bubbly persona seemed to be contagious.

“As soon as you walked in, all the guys have been muttering about how Jason isn’t good enough for you. You must get that a lot though.”

I shook my head, shocked. I was the nerdy girl. Boys hardly ever paid attention to me.

“Not really, I’m kind of nerdy.”

“Well you seem cool to me! I better go find my mate, bye!”

Jason turned to me with a questioning look, like he was secretly asking what I thought of his best friend.

“I like him! He seems so cool! Like a lot of fun! I bet his mate is awesome!”

He laughed and nodded, then slowly leaned in a kissed my forehead lightly. It was only a peck, but I was enough to get me wanting more. My wolf was howling for his, but it wasn’t an appropriate time.

He noticed and whispered into my ear, “You will be staying over at my place tonight”, and at the end he added in a sexy growl for effect.

Throughout the dinner, I was constantly shifting around in my chair thinking about what would happen at Jason’s house. I had only been with Alec before and that was only because I got caught up in the moment. How should I act with Jason? I guess I should let my wolf take over, since he was a wolf too I’m sure he’d like it rough. I couldn’t believe the dirty thoughts that were floating through my head, this had never happened before. I had always been the good girl, never the girl that would fool around with boys.

Suddenly something pinched my leg and I let out a startled screech. That was when everyone started laughing, but I didn’t understand why.

“Alice? Mrs. Haltan has been trying to get your attention for the longest time, you must’ve been in la la land,” Jason told me through his chuckles; even though he knew damn well what I was thinking about.

Mrs. Haltan was a sixty something year old woman who was married to a retired alpha of another pack. The dinner was being hosted at her house, and we had meet earlier in the night. She was kind and told me about her love for baking while I helped her set the table.

“I am sorry Mrs. Haltan, there has been a lot on my mind lately. What were you saying?”

She smiled sweetly before asking, “Is Jason your mate dear?”

She hit me with a question that I didn’t know how to answer.
