To pluck at my heartstrings is to tug at my lifeline,
Every supportive phrase is like a layer of twine.
To dig a blade into my thighs is to cut at my lifeline,
Sure you know I'm strong but I will break in time.
It isn't too pretty, being shaped by pain
But it's weakness leaves me with more support gained
Each trauma has taken a dull knife to my weak strings
But you would be surprised by how much strength it brings
Family is my biggest strength, like steel cord
Wrapped around me to protect my weak core
Friends layer over them like thick pieces of rope,
Supplying me with hope when I find it hard to cope
To pluck at my heartstrings is to tug at my lifeline,
Every supportive phrase like a layer of twine.
To dig a blade into my thighs is to cut at my lifeline,
Sure you know I'm strong but I will break in time.
You can try to cut me down, but I will rise up again
I will learn from my traumas, and grow stronger from the pain
Some of these strings are cut off from me
And it truly hurts to watch them leave
Others get tangled up in drama, and I have to let them go
I really want to save them, it is harder than they know.
Removing a corrupt string will always scar the fabric
But it helps in the end, even if it leaves me weak.
To pluck at my heartstrings is to tug at my lifeline,
Every supportive phrase like a layer of twine.
To dig a blade into my thighs is to cut at my lifeline,
Sure you know I'm strong but I will break in time.
Every single string no matter how small
Keeps sharpened steel from causing my downfall
Some as strong as titanium others as thin as fishing line
We grow far thicker when we are combined
When you wrap your arms around me you bring
Strength in many layers of string
Your supportive words weave together
These threads bring us together!
To pluck at my heartstrings is to tug at my lifeline,
Every supportive phrase like a layer of twine.
To dig a blade into my thighs is to cut at my lifeline,
Sure you know I'm strong but I will break in time.
