The weight of a loss

Chapter 1

Kate and Rick both fell asleep early last night. They had a dinner date for their first anniversary. Everything was perfect in their life. They were living the perfect love.
It was now 3 am when Kate woke up yelling in pain.
- "RICK!!!"
- "What's going on honey?" Said Castle still sleeping
- "I don't know, something's wrong... my stomach... it hurts !!" she said crying.
Rick was now fully awake, stood up and came to help Kate get up.
- "It hurts too much, I can't move."
Rick pushed the blanket away. That's when they saw all the blood in the bed, coming from Kate's crotch.
- "My God, Rick! The baby..." yelled Kate, before she passed out.
Rick had no choice. He took Kate in his arm and run to their car. They were both in their pjs but he didn't care. Something was definitely wrong with Kate and their unborn baby.
Rick drove as fast as he could to the hospital, trying to wake up Kate. But she was still unconscious, as pale as someone could be and still losing blood.
He arrived to the hospital, took Kate in his arms and run to find a doctor.
- "Someone help me please, something is wrong with my wife!!"
- "What happened?" asked a nurse.
- "I don't know, she woke up with a pain in her stomach and she passed out. She's losing so much blood, please help her!" said Rick
- "Don't worry she's going to be fine. How long has she been pregnant?" asked the nurse while a doctor arrived with a bed.
- "5 months... Oh my god..."
- "Ok, sir. We're going to take her to surgery. The nurse is going to take you to a waiting room. We will keep you in touch." Said the doctor.
They took Kate in the bed and run away.
Rick went to the waiting room and called his mother.
- "Hmm.." answered Martha still sleeping.
- "Mum... Something's wrong with Kate" said Rick crying.
- "Honey, what's going on???"
- "Can you come to the hospital, please? I need you. And can you call Jim please? I can't do it."
- "Of course honey, I'm on my way!!"
Rick hung up the phone. He was now sobbing, still choked about what just happened. They had seen Kate's doctor 2 days ago, and everything was alright.
He was still in his thought, still trying to figure out why it happened when his mother and Kate's father arrived.
- "Oh darling!!" said Martha, taking her son in her arms.
- "Mum... I don't want to lose her or the baby... Oh my god, what will I be without them"
Jim sat near Rick and put his hand on Rick's shoulders, trying to calm him down so they could understand what's going on.
- "Rick, honey. Calm down. What happened?" said Martha
- "I don't know... Everything... everything was fine... Oh god, mother..." said Rick between sobs "She woke up with a pain in her stomach and she was losing a lot of blood..."
- "Ok Rick. Where is she now?" asked Jim
- "She's in surgery... They took her an hour ago. They said they will come back to explain what happened. But they didn't !!"
- "Darling, calm down. They will come." Said Martha, putting her son back in her arms.
He stood up suddenly.
- "How can I calm down when my wife and my baby are not fine for god sake!!" he yelled.
Jim stood up and took Rick in his arm.
- "Shh, shh. We know. We're scared too.
- "I'm sorry" said Rick starting to sob again.
They all sat back in tears and waited 'til the doctor came.
