Did you know I had a life before Determination and the monsters?
No?
I expected not.
Being the embodiment of the soul of fear  always changes human's opinion on me.
That was fine though.
I never cared enough to try and understand.
At first...
When Bravery first made me the new soul of fear I felt... Empty...Hollow... like I was missing apart of myself.
Kumu was always there though, to make me feel... alive.
Kumu...
Kumu my friend...
Yes...
They are the reason this all started.
How I started feeling...human.
At first it was only an act, a facade.
I wanted to just see how at first normal children in the neighborhood acted...
I did that for awhile...
Just staring...
Observing...
Then Kumu told me to talk to them
I didn't want to
I was fine with just watching them play and have fun
Kumu didn't like my answer
So he had me talk to them...
It went a lot better then someone who inmates Fear everyday would expect.
It was only once a week at first...
Then two, then three, then four, and then for the rest of the weeks and months turned into years.
They never questioned why I didn't go to school or where my parents were.
Because they were my friends.
I shouldn't have cared
I shouldn't have gotten attached
Maybe then I would feel this immense pain in my chest for days when I took their schools when I attacked the city.
But I did anyway...
I didn't ever regret meeting them
Because one of them  introduced my only interest.
It was a Japanese culture book.
They called it Manga.
These worlds of ninjas, wizards, and hunters seemed so alive to me.
I've always wanted to meet some characters of many manga's.
They always seemed so...
Powerful..
I wanted to fight them all
To test my power against theirs
Specifically the villains of the series's
I wanted to see their fear.
But at the end it was always just in my head.
Because these worlds didn't exist.
Or so I thought.
Betty's pov:
I'm looking at her right now.
A fictional character but looks very real, very...human.
She has bright pink hair and glowing green eyes that seem to be happy to seem me.
Hey kumu?
Is this what you meant?
To give me another chance?
Is she that chance?
Alright...
I'll make sure this child is safe from all her fears and will never have to fear others.
Sakura Haruno...
I'll make sure you will will be the most feared and strongest shinobi of this generation.
That's my promise...
For my first and last friend...
Kumu
