Henry's p.o.v

i woke up with a throbbing in my head, in my ears too. or maybe that was my alarm since i decided to sleep on my phone last night, although to be honest it doesn't make the best pillow.

i lifted myself into my wheelchair and wheeled over to my closet, throwing on a grey shirt and leaving my shorts on. i look down at my arms, my biceps bulge a bit as i push myself into the kitchen where the smell of bacon lures my nose.

"Finally decided to wake up?" my mom greets me. "I'm not exactly excited about starting off school in a wheelchair." i say, already tired of the day. My mother chuckles as she hands me a homemade bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. I chow down as my dad comes in slapping his palm against the back of my head, choking me. "Oi! Say thank you!" he scolds. i manage a small thank you while my mother giggles.

my father sits down at the table, unfolding his news paper. he's kind of short with slicked back jet black hair and a large reddish nose. he's never really said what his job is exactly, all i know is he gets shipments down at the dock every Tuesday and every Saturday at 6:00 sharp, no matter what. it could be 30 below and snowing but he'll still get his shipment.

i look back at my mom; she's tall, beautiful with smooth dark brown curls. she is sort of chubby with a warm smile but no crows feet or wrinkles. she's the sweetest, prettiest, nicest woman you'll ever meet. on her hip is my 3 year old sister, nibbling a piece of toast with honey on it. her name's  Winnifred but we all call her Winnie. she has two almost sun bleached blonde french braids, she never had a sticky face like most 3 year old's. her hands are never grubby and she doesn't speak with "w"'s instead of "r"'s.

she wasn't in the car when the accident happened. nobody was, except me.

i was waiting in the car while my mom stopped inside the store, then a black pick up truck came speeding through the parking lot, i didn't care until since he was in the very start and the parking lot was pretty big. i kept waiting for police or security to come and stop him, but they never did. he finally lost control and spun out, hitting the passenger's side of my mom's red sports car.

i blacked out, waking up in the hospital with my legs burning. i don't remember seeing anything but i remember my mother telling me it would be okay, feeling her stroking my hair in (what i assume was) the ambulance.
