Chapter 1: Sadness

Elena's P.O.V.

I woke up at 6 am in the morning. I looked to the left side of the bed and noticed that it was empty. My heart was pounding; scared that he left me but my mind would tell different.

I heard a pouring sound coming from the other side of the room. Damon was pouring himself a drink again, as he does all the time. He became different since Stefan left town and didn't looked back on him any more. I noticed him being moody and not present, missing his brother. At sometimes he even stays away for a couple of nights and then returns back without telling me where he went to.

I wonder why he doesn't tell me he has a hard time dealing with this. Why does he always act like everything is okay when it is not.

Damon's P.O.V:

I couldn't sleep. It was 5 am and my body and mind refused to sleep any further. I looked to the right side of the bed and saw my beautiful girl Elena sleeping as a Rose. She was so stunning, oh so stunning.

I stood up to pour myself another drink. My body was in desperate need of blood. Human blood. I haven't drunk any blood since that night. Since everything changed. I was scared, so scared. What if I would lose control again? What if Elena finds out?

I pushed the glass against my lips and felt a bit better when I tasted the alcohol in my mouth. I felt the eyes of Elena looking at me. I turned around and smiled at her as I said: " you are awake too?"

She looked at me, without saying a word. I saw how concerned she looked when she looked at me and then back at the alcohol bottle.

"Elena.. Please. I'm fine" I said.

"I know you are not" she said. "Just tell me what is going on inside of your mind"

"I can't. I just seriously can't" I said.

Her eyes stared to tear up and her smile disappeared from her face.
