Paige's POV
Paige woke up to the song "Awake My Soul" by Mumford and Sons, her alarm. She groaned. 7:00AM. Way too early.
Nevertheless, she pulled her body out of the covers and turned off the alarm, sluggishly standing up and reaching for her slippers and dressing gown. The only thought that kept her going was that there was only half a day of school ahead of her.
At 1:30, the school day would be over and so would the summer term. Finally!
She dragged herself down the stairs and into the kitchen, where her mum was sat down eating some toast. "Good morning, Paige," she said with a smile, though her voice sounded tired. Another rough night's sleep, then.
Mum was a very cheerful, happy woman. She was getting a little old - well, she thought she was. Paige refused to believe that any age in the 40s was old.
Mum was perfect in every way, in Paige's eyes, however, she was struggling with a few health issues. Bad lungs and high blood pressure, mostly. It was never very serious, but Paige worried sometimes, unlike her mum. She was very positive, or tried to be for the sake of the kids. She never admitted that she felt ill or that her day was tiring or that she wanted a break. She did everything she could to help her four kids, and she was their idol for that.
Her other three children were Paige's younger brother and sister, eight year old twins Skyla and Max, and her older brother Aeron, but Paige didn't like to think about him. He wasn't a good brother or son. But he had moved away now, so she didn't need to think about him anymore. Besides, he was 21, he was an adult. He had probably forgotten all about his family.
Skyla and Max were best friends that fought often but idolised their older sister. Paige got sick of them very often, but she loved them loads. They were cute, on occasion.
They'd be awake soon, so Paige decided to get her cereal before the Monsters got to it.
"Morning Mum," she said, heading to get a bowl. She quickly poured some Cheerios in the bowl and put the milk on, before sitting down next to Mum at the dining table.
"Did you sleep well, love?" asked Mum.
"Yeah not bad actually, you?" Paige replied, already knowing the answer.
"Meh, on and off, you know," she answered with a smile. Paige smiled back. Always trying to glamorise things, she thought.
They ate in a comfortable silence before small footsteps could be heard down the stairs. "Oh, here comes the Peace Breakers," said Mum. Paige mentally agreed.
Moments later, Skyla and Max appeared at the doorway grinning as if they were full of energy, even though their sunk eyes and messy hair suggested differently.
"Hello, cuties," said Mum in a yet more cheerful tone than before.
"Morning Mum and Paige," said Skyla.
"Good morning," said Max. Skyla always was a lot chattier than her brother.
"Let's get you some breakfast, shall we?" said Mum, picking up her own plate and throwing away the many remains. I wish she'd eat more, thought Paige.

Soon, Paige had gotten out of the kitchen and was showering, letting the warm water pour over her whole body. When she had finished shampooing and conditioning her short, currently red hair, she washed her whole body with Impulse shower gel before climbing out and drying herself. The bathroom now smelt of fruity heaven.
She then tied her hair with the towel and wrapped her body in a bigger one, then she ran to her bedroom trying to avoid the cold draft; even in the summer this housed seemed to get cold in the morning.
