The Storm Before the Chase

Edwards POV

Edward wasn't sure how he felt as he watched Rever run into the woods before them. Was he happy? Was he sad? He didn't know. He just watched her blonde hair glow beneath the sun rays and whip from side to side like she's within her own bewitching tempest.

His gaze was fixed on the riveting girl he just met until he could see her no more.

Standing at the edge of the forest looking out into its depths he waited for a sign, even the smallest of twinkle of her figure. When he saw none he trudged back up to the house where his family was patiently waiting. Where Bella, his love, his fiancé, was waiting. The rest of the Cullen's were silent as he made his way up the grey concrete steps and through the main entrance of their open concept contemporary home. They all looked at him expectantly already knowing his side of the conversation.

With Vampires, there is no such thing as privacy; but, we all try to give it if needed.

Emmett the most boisterous of the clan spoke first,

"Well?"

Edward sighed, "She felt that she was a burden to us so she left."

"Perfect!" Rosalie shouted, "Our entire family would have been implicated if she stayed. The Voltouri are already showing interest in her. We don't need that when we already have a human Vampire wannabe."

"Rosalie watch your mouth!" Esme gave Rosalie a stern look and Rosalie just folded her arms across her chest in aggravation, "Well it's true!"

Edward let out a menacing growl and stepped towards Rosalie, "You will not talk about her like that!"

Carlisle being the peace maker of the family stepped forward putting his hands up between Edward and Rosalie, "I will not tolerate fighting in this household.  If Rever didn't want to stay then we cannot force her. But she is still a newborn so we can watch out for her. Alice —,"

"I've already been watching her decisions!"

Alice gave a bright smile towards Carlisle and Slowly gave Edward a knowing look while placing her hand on Jaspers arm,

"Alice you're already watching the future of the Voltouri and Bella, now your watching for Rever too! It's too much." Jasper grasped Alice's hand that rested on his arm giving her a caring look.

Alice glanced up at Jasper  a loving smile spreading across her face, "I'll be fine Jazz."

"Alice if you ever feel that it's too much then —," Carlisle began

"No Carlisle, it's fine, I'll watch out for her." Alice spoke with finality.

At this Rosalie turned and sped up the stairs slamming the door to her room. Emmett sighed and put up his hands as if to say "I'll take it from here" and followed after his pissed off mate. Carlisle nodded dismissing the rest of the Cullen's. Alice went to the sitting area to read about the latest fashion trends while Jasper turned on the television. Carlisle decided to go up to his study since he wasn't needed at the hospital while Esme went to work on a current interior home design for one of her clients.

With everyone dispersing it allowed Edward to relax and calm his mind. With realization he didn't know who he was truly defending when Rosalie spoke her ill fated words. Surly he was defending Bella? It couldn't have been Rever could it? A warm hand was placed on his shoulder shaking him from his thoughts,
