5:50pm
There was a knock on the front door of the house. There was two flats within the house. One basement and one of the ground and top floor. Jack and I had rented the bigger flat as it was vacant and there was three of us. The basement flat was currently unoccupied.

I stood in my bedroom doing my hair. I heard a knock on the front door. I ran down to open the front door. Sally stood on the door step. I opened the door wider and she stepped in the hallway.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah I'm good and you?"
"I'm doing fine."
I turned and walked up the stairs leading her to where Shannon was. She was laying in her bed. I had already put her into her pyjamas. She looked cute as she babbled away to her cuddly toys.

Sally broke through my thoughts with babbling of her own.
"Lola where are you actually going?"
"Just a restaurant in town. Jack booked it."
"Is he back?"
"No he's not back."
"Who are you going out with then?"
"You don't need to worry."
I threw things into my handbag. I hoped that Finn wouldn't show up at this very moment.

I saw Sally looking me up and down. I was wearing a black dress and black heels.
"You're dressed too nice to be just going out with a friend."
"Really?" I questioned.
I didn't want to seem overdressed. That would be awkward if Finn had gone casual and there was me dressed nicely.
"Yeah just tell me who you're going with and we can change it if we need too."
"Sally! I'm not going to tell you."
"Fine. Just have fun Lola. You deserve it."
"Please look after Shannon. Ring me if there's any problems."
"Lola trust me. I'm sure there won't but I will let you know if there is."
I hugged Sally. I pulled away and readjusted my hair in the mirror. I pulled my coat on. I knew it was going to be cold outside.
"Please tell me."
"All in good time. I'll see you later."
I walked downstairs and out of the front door.

I perched on the front wall and waited for Finn. The air was bitter. Minutes passed by and Finn still didn't show. He was late. I constantly checked my phone to see if he texted to say he wasn't coming but there was no such message. I heard footsteps running around the corner. I turned to see Finn. He stopped next to me and paused for breath.
"Sorry I'm late, I was ironing my shirt." He breathed.
I looked at him, he was wearing a shirt and smart trousers. His jacket was tucked under his arm. I wasn't overdressed and that made me feel slightly better.
"You look-" He said, still catching his breath.
"I look?"
"Wow."
"Come on you."
The taxi pulled up and we got in. It drove us the most direct route into the town centre.

Minutes felt like seconds and we pulled up outside of the restaurant. I handed the driver some money and stepped out of the car. Finn followed swiftly behind.

He pulled open the door to the restaurant and I walked inside. As soon as we entered a waitress approached us.
"Hello. Have you made a reservation?" She asked.
"Hi, yeah it's under the name of Higgins."
She walked over to the computer. She typed furiously and looked confused. She came back a minute later.
"I'm sorry that name is not on our list. Could you have possibly booked under a different name?"
"Oh sorry. It's booked under the name Andrews."
She returned to the computer and typed again, this time with a happier expression on her face. She came back quickly.
"Yes, that was on the list. Table for two."
She led us through the restaurant to a table and handed us a menu each. We sat down.
"Happy anniversary." She said, before walking away.
I looked over at Finn with wide eyes.
"What did she say?" Finn asked.
"Jack must've put it into the booking." I said with a sigh.
"Oh well. Happy anniversary babe." Finn said with a laugh.
"And to you."
I glanced my eyes over the menu. I didn't know what I would have. The prices made my eyes want to water. I can't believe that Jack had chosen such an expensive.

"Lola."
"Yeah."
"I just want to say, I'm glad that after all this time we're still friends."
"Oh Finn. Why would I ever leave you? Remember when we were four, we promised no matter what we would never ever leave."
I placed my hand on top of his and smiled.
"I know Lola but people break their promises. We've been through a lot."
"Finn that has made us so much stronger. Looking back at all the hard parts of my life, you've been the one constant and I know I don't tell you enough but I really appreciate it. More than you'll ever know."
The waitress walked back over to our table.
"Are we ready to order?"
"Yeah I think so."
"I'll have the wood fired chicken and bacon pizza please." I said
"I'll have the spaghetti bolognese." Finn replied.
I glanced down at the menu before she took them away. We had chosen the cheapest items on the menu. I smiled to myself. What were we like?
