Sharper Then A Knife

"You know, for a nerd you have an awfully sharp tongue.” Kevin said leaning on a locker beside nayomi

“Do I now? I hadn’t noticed thanks for informing me.” Nayomi responded rolling her eyes going through her books in her locker.

“See there you go again, always coming back saying something.” he said sounding amused

“It’s called a conversation you convoluted freak, now if you don’t mind I don’t like being late for class.” Nayomi snapped slamming her locker quickly trying to escape

The guy seemed to enjoy pestering her, she gave a huff of annoyance as he started walking beside her headed to her class she mentally bashed her head remembering that she had class with him this period. Shaking her head she picked up the pace and started to run knowing she had little time before she was late, unluckily for her she heard him jogging after her laughing at her attempt to get to class. She shot him a glare before slowing down entering the classroom, the teacher gave her a slight smile as she walked past to get to her desk.

“Mr. shauso, nice of you to join us. I’m glad you could make it.” Professor Green said softly teasing Kevin as he walked in calmly slightly behind Nayomi.

“Well someone has to keep the class awake.” he replied in kind smiling

“There is a difference between awake and distracted you know.” he said continuing their playful banter

“Not really, especially in her with your monotoned voice!” Kevin said yawning loudly for dramatic effect.

“All right all right, get in your seat so i can start putting you guys to sle- i mean teaching you about the wonders of the human body!” Mr. Green called ot eliciting groans from the entire class.

After a grueling hour of human body the ringing of the bell is like an angel's voice dismissing us from this classroom to lunch, Nayomi stays back finishing a few notes and the worksheet they were assigned purposely taking her time not wanting to deal with all the people in the halls.

“Aren’t you going to lunch? You can’t survive off of learning alone you know. You have to feed your body nutrients and all that crap..” Said Kevin standing in front of her desk looking a her with a bemused smile.

“I’m finishing up this paper, i have to get all A’s because unlike most kids here… My mommy and daddy can’t buy my college degree…” Nayomi snapped annoyed that he was still pestering her.

This seems to shut him up so she stands up bringing her stuff with her as she walked to the front of the class and turned in her paper avoiding kevin’s eyes, she turns to leave making it to the door before she sighed looking back and what she saw was two of the most hurt emeralds she’d ever seen, the sadness mixed with the anger was enough to make her want to apologize but she figured if she’d hurt him enough she’d get the peace she oh so desired. She simply kept walking quickly making her way to the cafe heading to the outdoor court with her lunch.

“So, what exactly is the deal between you and the jockster?” Ask one of her closest friends alex asked giving her one of her prominent. “Spill or else” kind of glares

“Honestly? I don’t know he won’t leave me alone and i’ve been nothing but ice to him it’s so infuriating that his brain can’t handle the fact that some girls don’t fall at his feet!” Nayomi nearly screamed in frustration putting her hand to her temple rubbing it.

“Listen guys like him have a huge ego, don’t shatter it to quickly he might never recover.” Alex said calmly fighting her smile.

“I hope I do, i’m tired of these… these… Gah! These Ungrateful, snobbish, players! I’m glad to not have been around the bloody track! It’s something not many girls here can say!” Nayomi said her accent slowly coming out as she got angry.

She watched as her friend froze into place her fork halfway up, suspended in the air her jaw seemed to have to dislocated itself remaining that way as she stared behind nayomi’s shoulder. She soon snapped out of it and sot Nayomi a look of “Oh Crap! Don’t Turn Around!” So nayomi simply keeps eating very aware of the presence behind her.

“You now, it’s rude to use telepathy in the presence of others.” A deep familiar voice sounded behind her suspiciously close to her ear.

“Not really, it’s called having people to trust and people who you actually like.” Nayomi snapped still not turning around.

“Na-Nayomi! What are you doing?!” Alex hissed at her trying not to get in between the fight but wanting to stop it before it got heated.
“I’m ending things right here and now.” Nayomi said calmly standing up turning to face Kevin who seemed to be joined by 2 other baboons but that didn’t matter to her, she looked him dead in the eye locking them as she spoke.

“I Do Not Like You. Leave Me Alone.” It was simple yet her words cut like a knife.Strangely enough she saw amusement flicker through his eyes then he spoke his words carefully chosen.

“Fine. But, you have to go on two dates with me. One of your choice and one of mine and if by the end you still harbor this hatred towards me i’ll leave you alone for the rest of the year.”

Nayomi pushed her lips together looking down to the ground debating his offer she knew that if he won she would never be able to focus and that would cause her to lose her valedictorian position she had been fighting for since 7th grade. But if she was able to fight her emotions she could be free of his annoying habits and voice. Finally after what seemed like an eternity she looked at him and gave a sharp nod.

“I’ll go on these dates with you, just keep your promise. Here’s my number so you can text me information. It’s 678-999-8212. Don’t forget it and now if you don’t mind the bell’s about to ring”’

As if she timed it all the bell rang as she spoke and she breezed past him her legs moving quickly trying to rush to get to her honors math class so she can sleep somehow finding the day already to draining.

“Welcome Mrs.white nice to see you again. I take it you’ll be sleeping today?” Asked Mr.Snicket giving her a knowing glance

“Yes sir, i’ve completed the week’s work unless you have something new i’d very much appreciate it if i could sleep.” She replied with a calm tone looking longingly at her corner desk in the back then to her teacher.

He chuckled and nodded indicating that it was alright with him and she smiled walking to her seat immediately putting her head down passing out. It wasn’t until she felt a gentle shake of her shoulder did she wake up, her face tilted up to see who it was and she gave a soft scream seeing kevin
