"Andrea? ANDREA?"

I sit up startled by my mother's voice of panic. What the hell just happened? I think to myself.

"W-where am I?" was all I managed through a sand-filled throat.

"Hun, you're in the hospital. The school called me in a panic to say you passed out cold in Mr. Turner's class."

I look at my surroundings. I'm in a very uncomfortable hospital bed. The sheets are a musky green and the main blanket is white with stains of who knows what. Then I look at the digital clock next to me. In bright red letters it tells me that it's 10:40 am.A young man in a white lab coat walks into the room, his blue eyes lighting up the room.

"Andrea, what is your last name?"

Distracted by how attractive he is, I blush and mutter out "Oregon."

He writes this down on a piece of paper clamped onto a clipboard. This man was no older than thirty.

"Mrs. Oregon, we'll write Andrea a Doctor's note and we advise that you keep her home for two days as her iron is low...Now tell me, does your family have a history of being enemic?"

My mum looked at the doctor thinking. "Well...her grandpa on her dads side was enemic but other than that, no."

I stand up to leave and my mother grabs me by my upper arm for support.

"Did you eat this morning Andrea?" she says concerned.

"I went to McDonalds and had a coffee drink. I wasn't that hungry."

Hearing the hospital door slam behind us was almost satisfying. God I hate hospitals.

When we got home my mum carefully walked me up the stairs and placed me in my bed. "Try to get some rest." she whispers shutting my door.

I don't have any friends here, even after two years. Sure I have classmates who I sometimes socialize with but if I were to die tomorrow they would have no clue. Back home in Canada my best friend lives. She's a little taller than me and is gorgeous. She doesn't seem to think so, but she is.

I go onto Facebook to see if she's online. Ok if it's 11:00 am here..what time is it in Canada? I think. Darn, I can't seem to remember so I Google it.

It's 6:00 am for her. Ellen would be awake, she's an early riser.

"So you'll never believe what happened." I start our conversation with.

"Oh God, what did you do?" I can hear her sarcasim.

"Nothing! I passed out in English. Just my luck. So then I was rushed to the hospital to be told I have low iron and now I don't have school for two days!"

"Score!"

God I missed her.

"Hey, I have to get ready for school. Skype later?"

"Okay! Bye." I wish she didn't have to go to school. I wish I was back in Canada. I wish life was the way it was when I was about 14.

"Bye."

Ellen is now offline.
