Edwards POV

Edward stood in the massive forest with his family waiting for Alice to give them a signal that would tell them Rever was close. They stayed close to the river, the water slowly trickling here and there, winding in different paths and sparkling in the sun. Hidden behind the trees that loomed before them, the Cullen's waited. Not wanting to alert the wolves, they wouldn't show themselves until the opportune moment. When that time comes, they'd partake in the chase.

"They're coming!" Alice yelled.

Not long after Rever shot by them, speeding down the beaten path. Moving faster than light itself. Her slender figure blurring to the point of invisibility. Only a trained eye would've been able to see her. Anyone who didn't have the miraculous eyesight that was gifted to the Cullen's would have thought that it was just a breeze from the wind that went passed them.

Not long after Rever, the wolves showed themselves. Barking and snarling like mad, all they could see was red. They were propelling themselves like an arrow to its target. The target being Rever. At this, the Cullen's started following, darting through the trees, picking up speed.

Edward zoomed to the very front of his family, him being the fastest.

Rever, Rever, Rever.

It was a chant that kept going through Edwards head. Find Rever, get to Rever, save Rever. Not only were the wolves seeing red, he was too. If they harmed her, he didn't know what he'd do. When they finally caught up to Rever he saw her look back in surprise before being tackled by a pure black wolf.

He grabbed her by the ankle and threw her down, her leg cracking from her Achilles heel and up to her calf. The Cullen's gasped knowing that this is where Alice's vision stopped, they were unsure of what was to happen. Thankfully, Rever pushed up and used the momentum to fly into the trees. Edward sighed with relief and pushed himself faster getting ahead of the wolves. He looked behind him once he was at the front and saw Rever jump from one of the trees; landing on the ground in a somersault.

She rolled to her feet and was up and running in a span of a second. Edward was now running next to Rever with only the river, the treaty line, separating them. He could see the panic on her face as it left a permanent scowl. Her eyes were squinting and her mouth was pursed in a thin line that was tightly closed. Even with the current events, she still looked like a beautiful goddess with her being the descendent of the sun.

Shaking his head at the perplexing thought he looked away feeling the guilt of having the rumination slowly take over. Peering ahead of him he focused on Revers thoughts that were screaming at him, "Stop! You need to go back! Get your family out of here!"

Edward snapped his head up to look at Rever, "Alice, she had a vision that you were in trouble! I couldn't — I couldn't just leave you!"

Rever hid the surprise she felt from his words well. She knew it wasn't the time to be getting butterfly's when death was around the corner. Her thoughts roared in desperation, "You're putting your family in danger by coming here, you need to get as far away as possible. I can feel it coming, I can't control it!"

Edward refused to leave her behind. He couldn't. He wouldn't. Edward wished he could stretch his hands across the river and pluck her from the earth as if she were a flower that finally bloomed. He wanted so desperately to get her away from the wolves, but, he didn't know what to do.

The woman was just as stubborn as Bella. Dissatisfied, Edward decided to peer into Revers thoughts, going deeper than he's ever been before. That's when he felt the pounding. The unabating Hammer to nail strike that grew in intensity that even gave him a pulsating headache just from listening. It was like a cannonade in Revers brain.

Heavy ongoing gun fire. The bullets piercing the walls of her mind only to ricochet off one wall and bounce to the next. Edward winced at the slight headache he acquired from going that far into Revers mind. She wanted them to leave but he knew that no matter what happened, his family and himself were there to stay. Upon this realization, he shook his head and made sure to keep up with Revers pace, "My family came of their own free will. They all want to help you, I want to help you! Just jump over to us!"

Rever shook her head in a no like fashion rapidly, astonishment and gratitude over coming her fear, "I can't! I can't control it, I won't let you all die!"

As they all ran together, with the wolves gaining, Edward watched as Revers eyes were darting all around as if she were looking for something. He tried to look into her mind again but was immediately pushed out as if she put up a barrier the instant he entered. He watched as something must have clicked, an idea perhaps? Her face became brighter as if the stress was slowly leaving with this new revelation. But it soon switched to determination, Edward being curious tried to read her mind but was again, banned.

This really irked him. Reading minds has become a second sense to him. It was just as important to him as his eyesight. Without it he was lost. Reading minds did get frustrating, it was hard to control at first.

Everyone's thoughts would come at him all at once and he would hear things he shouldn't have. Personal things. But now he's able to drown out the millions of thoughts that threaten to drown him. Since he can control it better he gets frustrated when he can't read someone's mind. It was one reason why he was drawn to Bella,  not being able to read her mind.

But the major reason he gravitated to Bella was because of her blood. The smell being intoxicating. Edward was deep in his thoughts when he felt eyes on him. He looked towards Rever and locked eyes with her. Her red eyes were pleading with him to understand.

He looked towards her lips as he watched her mouth something to him. Then it dawned on him. She mouthed "I'm sorry."
Startled he watched as she took off to her right the wolves trailing after her and leaving us behind.

"Rever!" He yelled out to her as a couple swear words threatened to be said.

"Where is she going!?" Emmett asked, not fully understanding what was going on and why she didn't just do the easy thing and jump over to their side of the treaty.

We all stopped our running and watched as Rever and the wolves began to disappear. "She's going to get herself killed!" I glanced at Rosalie who was fuming at the idea of us offering her safety and her refusing to take it.

Edward stepped towards Rosalie, "it's not her fault! Her gift was threatening to show itself. No matter how hard I tried she wouldn't have jumped over to us. She didn't want to hurt us or worse, kill us. She doesn't even want to hurt the wolves."

Rosalie scoffed, "I'd kill any of those smelly mutts if I got the chance."

Edward and Rosalie were at each other's throats when Carlisle spoke, "ENOUGH!"

I stepped away from Rosalie a scowl forming on my face. I looked over to the wolves territory and made my decision.

"Edward no it's too dangerous! If you do that I won't be able to watch out for you. My visions would be blocked!"

Not caring for Alice's words I leaped over the river and passed the treaty line. I ignored my family as they screamed for me to come back. I didn't know what I was doing. I just knew that I had this protective urge to get to Rever.

And that's what I was going to do.
