When I try to explain the incredible idea of Fanfiction to others, I often have trouble putting the concept into words. The best I can say is it is being able to live in a already created character. Getting to experience and explore an already created world. Getting the chance to discover other parts of their world. Putting your own twist on the story, ideas and characters. Flaring it up with your own special abilities. I like to ask myself the questions, what if this happened? What would happened it this event hadn't occurred? What would happen if she fell in love with her instead of him? What would the story be like without this character? What would it be like it she hadn't died? What would it be like after the book was finished? Before?
Fanfiction is a way of reliving a story we love in a new and exciting way. A way we get to create. Change. Alter. Add to. Improve. Question. Resolve. Continue a story we aren't ready to complete.
