15.What now?

The after competition party was amazing. There were so many decorations. The tables were round and big and of course full of delicious food. The party room was lighted by a nice blue and also the tables had some blue light. In the ceiling were hanged some white laterns made of paper. Around the dance floor were some flower-shaped spotlights and a disco ball. It looked amazing

"Wow your father surely knows how to decorate a place. " said Georgia amazed.
"No. It's my mother's job all of this. She's talented on interior design. "
"Yeah it's great. Now can we go eat."
"Derek it's food and being childish the only things you're good at?" said Sue.
"What can I do? My stomach knows what it wants. Oh that table in the middle looks great. " He said almost running into it.
"Slow down brother. We are alike physically but thank God not mentally. " said Georgia laughing." I better go to him before he breaks something. "
"We're staying here talking and talking but where is Simon our champion?" asked Tom.
"He told me he and Alex would come with us but had a little problem in the last minute. I don't know what it was. " said Daphne.
"It must be important. I bet he's trying to look the best for tonight. Maybe he is planning a surprise for you Daphne."
"I don't know Sue. " she said blushing.

"Alex for the last time. I'm sorry. "
"Your sorry doesn't fix my dress. You ruined everything Simon. "
"Oh come on. It's not my fault that you are blind as a bat. "
"What? You were so busy daydreaming that you didn't see me walking. "

Simon was in his room dressed nice for a party and was keeping in his hands the second place trophy admiring it. He never felt so proud of himself and he couldn't believe he actually did it. He actually felt good when he saw the anger in those idiots face who laughed with him. Karma is so good. When he was about to get out of his room as soon as he passed the door his sister was walking in his way and tripped and fell and her dress had a little torn in the end.

"Kids just calm down. " said Jane.
"Mum how can I be calm when Simon ruined my dress!"
"Stop this delicate girl act Alex. It's really annoying. "
"I'm gonna show you annoying. "
"Stop now!!"
"But mum..." said Alex and Simon at the same time.
"Be quiet you two. If you continue like this you're not going anywhere. Understand? "
"Yes mum. "
"Okay now Alex come with me. You need just a needle and it will be fine. Simon apologize to your sister. "
"Why should I apologize to her? "
"Because you laughed when she fell."
"But it was funny. "
"Simon!"
"Alright I'm sorry Alex. Happy now mum ?"
"Yes. Come on Alex let's go to your room. "
"Seriously I really can't wait for college. " he thought.
After some minutes Alexandra came out of her room and her dress looked fine.
"Okay ready to go now. "
"Finally. " Simon said bored.
"Kids have fun at the party. Don't drink alcohol,don't talk to strangers and come home at midnight. Got it?"
Simon and Alex looked at each other with a "What the hell?" look and just said "yes".
"Kids ready to go?"
"Yes dad. "

The place was full of people mostly teenagers but there were also the organisers of the competition and some coaches . Alex went to her friend while Simon was looking around for his friends until he saw Derek with his mouth full of food waving at him. He went to him but as he was pushing himself in the dance floor some people just stopped dancing and stared at him.
"Haven't seen a paralyzed guy before these people? " he thought ignoring people's stares.
"Hey Derek. Sorry I'm late."
"Hey bro. Give me a high five. "
"Why are you alone? Where are the others?"
"Dancing. I'm here enjoying this food. "I can see that. "
"Oh look it's your chick over there. She's hot."
"Derek. Are you drunk?"
"Nope. I'm just being honest with you."
Simon just rolled his eyes and turned his head to the dance floor. Daphne and Georgia were dancing to the loud music while Tom and Sue were kissing in a corner. Well Derek was right. Daphne looked hot in the way she was dancing.
"Will you dance?"
"What? No. "
"Why not Simon? "
"I can't dance. "
"Okay then. "
Derek got up and went to Daphne and said something in her ear. She smiled and then went to the music player and asked the DJ to play a song. Simon was confused and didn't understand anything. Then "Brand new " Ben Rector started playing. But that was Daphne's favorite song. Then she came to Simon and said
"Simon come with me. "
"What? No Daphne sorry. "
"Come on just one dance. Please you can't just stay like this all the party. Plus my fave song is playing. "
"Please Daph. What can I do there?"
"La la la I'm not listening to you. Come on Simon close your eyes and don't care if anyone sees you dancing."
"If?? They sure will. Wait what are you doing? "
"Taking you to the dance floor. " she said pushing Simon's wheelchair.
"No stop. "
But she didn't listen. She kept pushing him until they arrived at the dance floor.
"Finally decided to enjoy the party Simon? "
"It's not funny Georgia and it's all your brother's fault. "
"Derek? Finally he did something right. Come on Simon. Show us what those arms can do.This is also the perfect song for you. "
Simon just looked around and people were dancing enjoying their time and some were singing the lyrics. Georgia and Daphne were doing some simple moves and encouraging Simon to dance. He understood that they wouldn't stop if he didn't dance. Plus there's was playing Daphne's favorite song so he would do something for her. Just like in the song she made her feel something he never felt before something he never imagined of she made her feel...brand new. So he started moving his hands on the air and danced like nobody was watching. It actually felt pretty good. He felt so excited so happy. He noticed that some people were watching him but he didn't care. He danced the way he knew and it made him feel great like he was flying. Then Daphne came closer to him and grabbed his hands. They were dancing together now. Of course it wasn't like a real couple dance but it was perfect for them. It made them feel happy it made them feel in love so what's the problem with it? It was a great night, a night to remember.

"So have you packed everything?"
"Yes mum everything is ready. "
"Are you sure you haven't forgotten anything? "
"Yes. I got everything I need. "
"Oh fine then. I'm calling your father to pack everything in your car. "
"And you who thought that me learning to drive was a bad idea. "
"Shut up Simon. "
College life. It came so soon. Just like yesterday he woke up as a senior now he is going to study for journalism in college. He was excited for college life but a bit sad that his friends wouldn't be there with him. Sue was in Italy, Tom had gone to New York and was studying finance, Georgia was in Hollywood and training as a make up artist and also found a part time job in a gossip magazine and Derek decided to take a year break from school and travel the world. Now he was in England. They were separated from distance but not by heart. They were still the best friends they were in high school. Simon was going out of the city with Daphne because they both would study for journalism in the same college. Now he was standing in his room and looking every part of it. He would miss the place he grow up of course. He couldn't stop but let a tear fall from his eye.
"Hey Sim."
"Hey Alex. "
"I just wanted... Wait a minute. Are you crying?"
"No. Something just stuck in my eye. "
"Yeah right. Is that something called sadness? "
Simon just smiled and Alex went to him and hugged him tight.
"I'm gonna miss you Simon. Trust me when I say that. " she said crying.
"I'm gonna miss you too Alxie. Also when you bother me. "
"It's going to be quiet without you. "
"Alex stop making it sound like I'm going for forever. I'll come next month. I just need some things to do there and then I promise I will come every weekend. "
"I know but it's still not the same. "
"I know Alex but this is my future. You're going to college too after 3 years and mum and dad will be alone. You'll understand how I feel. "
"Just promise me something. "
"Anything. "
"Every evening I want a good night text."
"I promise I will do that. "
"Thanks Sim. So you're going with Daphne. "
"Yeah she's coming every minute now."
"Let's go outside. "
Outside there were his parents and Daphne with her mother. She saw him and waved to him.
"So Simon. Ready to go? " asked Mark.
"Ready dad. Hello Veronica. "
"Simon is that the right way to talk to a woman?"
"It's fine Jane. Excited for college? "
"Yeah also nervous. "
"It's going to be fun. Belive me. "
"Simon everything is ready. " said Mark.
Simon hugged his parents , Alexandra and Veronica and went inside the car with Daphne. He started the car and started driving through the road. From the mirror he saw his family until they couldn't be seen.
"Can't believe this day came. College. I talked with Daniel this morning. He wished me good luck. "
"That's great. How is he."
"Better I think. Gonna miss Georgia. She makes some awesome makeup tutorials. "
"I have seen some. It's still weird for me that they won't be with me this year. "
"Yeah I know. So Simon. What now?
"Now. We just enjoy life. "
It was the ending of the past and beginning of something new.
