The two spent the day talking about spells. There were so many of them, hundreds. Sal wouldn't have been surprised if Sebastian only remembered a few. Apparently Sal teaching Sebastian was really enjoyable for him. It was almost the end of the day.

"There are other ways to enchant objects to do task, but they're a bit more complicated so there's no point." Sal finished up his lecture. Sebastian never dozed off once. "Well, would you look at the time. That was fast."

"What are the other spells you could have told me?" Sebastian wanted to know a list, not how to do them.

"Let's see... There is invisibility, minimum allusions, teleportation, windows, quite a lot actually. Just not enough time to get to them all. Tomorrow is a big day."

Just as he was about to go to his room, Sebastian stopped him. "What was my mother like?"

Sal stopped in his steps. His head down. He apparently hated that subject.

"You knew my dad back then, you had to have met her."

Silence.

Then Sal spoke. "Your mother... Was an amazing woman. She was cheerful and brave. Also really smart. I mean, really smart. If it wasn't for her, we may not even be here today."

"How did she... You know... Die?"

This hurt Sal. Sebastian couldn't explain how he knew it was hurting Sal, he just did. "Your mom... Sacrificed herself. A dark forces was killing sorcerers and she was next. She knew that if your father were to do it, he would have died, so she did it herself. She died a hero."

Sebastian knew this was supposed to be sad, but he never knew his mom, so it didn't hurt as much for him as it did for Sal. Sal was being tortured for these answers. "Please... No more."

As Sal began to walk away, Sebastian looked down. How much evil is in this world?

"She loved everyone. Cared for 'em like they were her family." Sal said as if trying not to leave Sebastian hanging. "She always knew how to make someonehappy. Even when they didn't want to be. Your father loved her. So much."

He walked away leaving the room with a depressing gloom over it. Even when everything peachy back then, something apparently went wrong for them as well. They probably fought in past wars, seeing things that no human should be able to see. Now, even when the war is over, their still fighting in a war... Their own war. Sal is fighting his own war.

Sal was suffering, and Sebastian knew that there was no way him or anyone else in the world to help him. Sebastian went to bed with those thoughts on his mind.
