Running. It is a horrible thing, but necessary when you're running from death itself. I look back and see it explode. My life, my everything. Gone. I keep running not looking back. Not now, now is when I need to go. I need to save them.
Earlier That Day
"Hey! Don't leave without me!" I rush and finish up cleaning my room. I run downstairs just as Serenity is walking out the door.
"You better hurry up, Melody!" Serenity yells as I'm grabbing my jacket. I run out the door and jump in Serenity's car. We drive to Ruth's house where we are going to watch movies. We go inside and see that Sebastian, Noah, Annie, and Winter are already here. Ruth has a bunch of snacks laid out for watching movies. It's Friday the 13th and we are having a "creepy marathon", as we call it. We all gather around the TV as Ruth puts in the first movie, Stephen King's IT.
We are about halfway through the movie when we here a sound that is coming from outside. Noah and Sebastian go to the window to see what it is. Suddenly black seeps in through the windows and doors until everything is pitch black. I run into a wall and smack into someone.
"Ow! Who is this?" I hear Winter say.
"It's me, Melody. What happened?" Just then we here Annie scream.
"Annie! Annie, are you ok? Annie!" I keep yelling. I feel around to try to make my way to the couch, where Annie was last. I feel an icy cold hand touch my arm. I try to pull away, but the hand pulls me closer to whatever it is. I trip over something. I try not to cry because I know what, or more of who, it is. I am shoved out the door and land in the middle of Ruth's backyard. Just then Ruth, Sebastian, Noah, Winter, and Serenity fall out the door and land into a pile next to me. Noah points to the woods that are just a few feet away from us and we all sprint in all different directions into the woods.
I haven't been running long, even though I'm already out of breath. I turn to look back and see it explode. My life, my everything. Gone. I keep running, not looking back. Not now, now I have to find them. Wherever they are. I decide to take one glance over my shoulder and see a black figure emerge out of the ash and smoke. I run harder.
I come to a little creek and stop there to take a rest. A little ways down the creek I see someone. Then I realize it is Ruth. I run to her and hug her.
"Where are the others? Do you know?" I ask.
"I saw Winter a little ways back. Do you think they will all stop here?" Ruth tells me just as a man in a black hood appears behind her.
"RUTH! RUN!" I scream. We run back into the woods, but the hooded guy appears in front of me. That's when I realize it's death. Ruth runs up next to me. Annie stands behind Death, but it can't be her. She looks up and you see that is the ghost of Annie. Sebastian, Noah, Serenity, and Winter appear behind Death too. I feel tears develope behind my eyes and try to blink them away. Death leaps towards Ruth and I. I step back and trip. I know I'm going to die.
I wake up sweating and panting. I sit straight up and see that everybody is staring at me. It looks like they just finished the movie IT.
"You were asleep for half the movie!" Annie says, "It was kinda funny watching you sleep though."
"It was just a nightmare," I say and plop back down on the couch, "Good."
