The Boy with the High Heels

Chapter 1

"You're really gonna wear that?" asked Joanne, Zachary's best friend.

"Yes, of course! It's perfect with today's outfit!" Zachary exclaimed.

It was 7:30 am and they were at Zachary's house to hang out before school that day. Today was August 5, the first day of 10th grade in Memphis, Tennessee.

"I want to slay the crowd!" Zachary confidently said.

"You go gurl!" Joanne yelled in excitement.

They high-fived each other and walked out his room with smiles on their faces.

Joanne and Zachary hung out all summer long. In 9th grade, Joanne carpooled with Zachary everyday. It was their tradition to hangout. Zachary's mom, Mrs. Winston, would drive them to school. Both Mrs. Winston and Joanne's mom were ok with it.

They walked down the stairs to meet Mrs. Winston to get ready to leave Zachary's house.

"Ok, I know you're gay, but are you really going to wear that to school?" Mrs. Winston asked as she saw Zachary's outfit. He was wearing a red Polo sweater, black jeans, and red high heals.

"Yes, mom! I'm going to slay the day!" Zachary replied happily.

"Ok! But, don't come and complain to me when people judge you for what you're wearing." Mrs. Winston replied.

"Fine!" Zachary said.

Mrs. Winston was a very accepting lady. She's divorced, which is why Zachary's dad isn't around. Zachary's dad never got the chance to really see Zachary because he left when he found out that Mrs. Winston was pregnant. He would've probably tried to play ball with Zachary, but Zachary wouldn't have budged. He'd probably start begging to go to Sephora to get new beauty blenders.

They get in the car and Mrs. Winston drives them to school. On their way there, Zachary had a vision of him being pushed around by the football players and being called a fag. He heard someone call his name, but he wouldn't budge and stayed in his trace of the horrible vision.

"Zachary!" Joanne yelled while pushing and pulling his left arm.

Zachary got out of his trace to see Joanne holding his arm and looking at him, crazily.

"Oh my god, Zach! I've been saying your name for like 2 minutes! What's wrong? What happened?" Joanne said in distress.

"Oh..... what? I'm sorry, I had a vision." Zachary replied.

"What was it about?" Joanne asked.

Zachary thought about what to say, knowing that he had to lie to make Joanne feel ok and not worried. "Oh, it was about how we are going to slay the day with our new outfits!" Zachary lied.

"That's my bestie!" Joanne replied, happily.

They began to sing the best friend song for the rest of the ride.

They get to Jackson High School, and they notice something strange.

Everyone studying from the school was standing outside the front entrance to see someone.

They tried to find someone, but they couldn't.

Luckily, Zachary and Joanne got on time to see who they were looking for.

Unluckily, it was them.
