Andy on side

"What the fuck you crazy bitch?" James, cupping a hand over his eye, swore. The rage in his eyes was visible.
I regret nothing.
"Just a message from the desperate slut," I glared at him, walking backwards toward the door, not daring to lift eye contact.
It took only five seconds for James to register what I was talking about. "Oh, so you've heard." He laughed.
"Do you want another black eye?"
He shut up.
I reached for the door knob behind me, but it had already twisted and the door had been pushed open. I screamed in pain, making the sleeping teacher at the front of the room jolt up in surprise.
"What is going on?" He yelled, standing from the wooden chair. Both James and I ignored him, but as he was laughing, I whipped around to confront who had slammed a metal door into my back.
Colton's chest was heaving up and down as he raised his eyebrows at me, then James who was still rolling on the ground.
"Care to explain?" He stepped into the room, putting a protective arm around me.
"Yes, please do." The teacher put in, but not getting any reply.
"Well your girlfriend just strutted her little ass in and punched me," James straightened up, maniacly grinning.
Colton looked at me, "Why the heck did you do that?"
"You haven't heard the rumors?" Surprisingly, James and I said in sync.
He shook his head and i sighed, glaring at James once again. "James Jerk Off Davidson decided to tell the whole school that I'm a slut. He said I asked him to - "
In a split second, Colton had James against the wall, his shirt bunched up in his hands. "What did I tell you about staying away from her?"
James laughed coarsely, "I'll leave when she wants me to, man."
"Excuse me mr Smith, but mr Davidson has detention!" The teacher yelled again. "Get off of him and get out."
I stared at the Brazilian boy in utter shock and bewilderment, "You don't think you've done enough?" I was tempted to punch him again. "Oh, I want you to leave. Trust me."
For a moment James looked hurt, but covered up as soon as it came. "How can you not want this?"
I laughed bitterly, and I think even the teacher scoffed.
Colton decided to speak up, "Andrea, go and stay in my car please."
"Why?"
He gritted his teeth, "Because I said to."
It didn't take a genius to know why Colton wanted to be alone with James.
Once I walked out and I was at the end of the corridor, I heard the detention monitor yelling and Colton shouting back.
"Mr Smith get back here with mr Davidson," The teacher screamed. "Right now!"
That was all I heard before I turned and pushed past the double doors.

I'd been sitting worriedly in Colton's truck for thrity minutes, fridgeting at the thought of coming home late to a drunken father, when my best friend decided to show up.
Beaten and brusies, might I add.
"What the hell happened?" Before he could reply I held up a hand. "You know what? Don't worry. I don't wanna know."
Without a word from either of us, Colton started up the truck and drove out of the car park. Halfway to my house, my blonde friend broke the silence.
"I don't think Davidson is gonna look his best tomorrow."
I stared at Colton for a good minute, "I can't believe you -"
"I know, I know," Colton hit his hand on the steering wheeling. "You didn't want me to defend you because you can fight your own battles."
I down looked at the gear stick, "I just don't want to feel weak."
He smiled sadly, "I know. It's just -"
Without warning, Colton swirved and park the truck on the side of the road. I raised my eyebrows, trying to hide my fear of what was waiting for me at home.
"I need to tell you something," He took my hand and his green orbs gazed into my brown ones. "When -"
I cut him off, pulling my hand away from his grip so he couldn't feel me shaking. "Colton I'm not mad, okay? You don't need to apologize or give me this big speech. I'm late enough as it is."
The confusion on Colton's face was obvious. "Late for what, Andy?"
"Nothing," I blurted out.
"Well what is it? What's the rush?"
I didn't pause. "My dad hits me."
No, no that's not what I said. What I did say was this;
"My dad will get... worried if I'm late," I added in a laugh, covering up my lie. "Trust me, he'll have the whole town looking for me."
Lie. Lie. Lie.
Colton sighed, nodded and started up the truck again. He didn't say a word and neither did I.
When we arrived outside my house, I swallowed the lump in my throat. "I'm not mad Col, honestly."
He smiled,"How 'bout I come inside?"
My blood ran cold and I instantly shook my head. "No, no. You don't have to do that."
"I want to," He unbuckled his seat belt. "I have't been to your house in - well, forever. Ever since..."
My mum died.
Seeing my dad's cheap car parked infront of where Colton's truck was, I felt tears coming to my eyes and shook my head faster. "I'd love to see your dad..."
He must of noticed something was wrong because he stopped talking and just looked at me blankly. "Colton," I reached for his seat belt and plugged in back in, undid mine and opened the door. "Please, just go home."
It looked like he was about to speak again but I didn't allow him, slamming the door quickly and racing up the short drive way.
When I looked back before opening the front door, Colton's truck had already disappeared, leaving only leaves slowly floating to the ground.
