Reader POV

Once again I'm trudging through the halls. After a long summer off, I'm hit in the face with the reality of hard work. No thanks. Why did I choose math at college? I don't know, but I started to regret it.
I heard there was a new teacher this year. A young one. This sounds awfully prejudice but I was looking forward to it immensely, considering they tend to be more lenient in order to gain some kind of respect. But oh was I wrong.

...

"Hello, I'm Mr Jeon and yes I am young, but I have more experience with math in my little finger than you have in your whole body. I have rules and as long as you oblige, we are going to have a great time. Now let's begin."

His speech was so commanding that I didn't want to interrupt him by walking in so here I was, cowering outside until I casually strolled in minutes later (pretending that I hadn't just been terrified a moment ago).

"Hello. I'm assuming punctuality is not a phrase you're familiar with hmm?" he says, directly to me.

"Sorry I'm late sir." He was staring at me and I've got to admit, I've never been more intimidated by a teacher.

"Since it's my first day, I will let you off as I haven't introduced the rules yet. After that, I won't be so nice."

To be honest, I didn't think he was being nice in the first place.

"Thank you sir."

As I turned to take a seat, the only one left was right at the front. Great, looks like I won't be getting away from him very easily.

...

"Right, can everybody hand in the work they've done for today, I'd like to see how you are all doing." our teacher announced.

"HEY Y/N!" I heard coming from the door, "Come on we are going to get lunch!"

I turned to see my best friend, Jonah, standing near the classroom door (whilst also staring at my teacher might I add) with a shocked expression.

"Are you ok Jonah?" I asked him, chucking, as we left the room.

"Y/N why didn't you tell me you had the new hot teacher."

"You can't talk like that about teachers. He's probably way older than us and besides, he seems a bit full of himself"

"I mean, I don't blame him Y/N look at him. Anyway, I heard he's only 20, get on that."

"I don't mean like that. I mean he thinks he's wayyy smarter than us. You do realise what you're proposing is illegal right?"

"You're the stereotypical good girl. You need something to ruin your reputation. Go and have a bit of fun with your teacher eh?"

"Jonah, no."

"Fine, your loss honestly."

...

Tuesday Morning, the next day after math class

"Y/N can I speak to you?" Mr Jeon asks me. I mean, he phrased it like a question but it's more of a command.

"Uh yeah sure"
I made my way over to his desk as the other students leave the classroom.

He looks up at me from where he's sitting with a look of joy? Admiration? It's honestly quite confusing.
"Y/N this work you've done is really good. And I mean really good. You got onto advanced level stuff without me teaching it to you."

"Thanks. So are you saying maybe I am better at math than your little finger?"

He chuckled in reply (I'm taking that as a yes).
"Y/N I want to teach you an extended course after classes in the hope you'd represent the college in a mathlete competition."

"You would? You really think I'm that good?"

"Yeah, of course you don't have to or anything but I wouldn't want you to be restricted to this stuff if you're capable of much more."

"Okay, sure. When do I start?"

"Is tomorrow good for you? An hour after class?"

Accepting this proposition definitely sealed my fate. Yup, I'm in deep trouble.
