Chapter 4

Mika's POV

Ever since nagstart magpre-school ang anak ko, the questions about his father also started. Hindi pa naman ganun kadalas but it already makes me worry. Nalulusutan ko pa naman so far. I told him that his father had to work somewhere and kailangan niyang magstay doon. I'm afraid sa pagtagal ng panahon, mas dadami pa ang mga tanong niya most especially nakikita niyang ang mga classmates niya na hinahatid o kasama ang mga tatay nila.

It's Friday and it seems na hindi ko masusundo sina Ice from school ngayon. Every Friday kasi, sinusundo ko sila Ice and Yaya Sally from school then we would go somewhere para mamasyal or kumain sa labas. Sobrang busy ako sa office ngayon because of our shoot for a big sports drink next week. Excited pa naman manuod ng Rio 2 si Ice kanina. What to do???

Calling Ara Galang

(Hello?)

Mika: "Bes, I need your help. Again."

(Ara: Ano yun?)

Mika: "Pwede mo bang sunduin si Ice later? We are supposed to watch a movie pero hindi ako makaalis dito sa office ngayon eh."

(Ara: Well, I guess pwede ko naman siyang isama. Sige, I'll just pick them up sa school.)

Mika: "Teka, may lakad ka? Baka makagulo lang yung bata sa'yo."

(Ara: Meron. But it's with Thom lang naman, so ayos lang yun.)

Mika: "Thom? Yung Thomas Torres ba yan? Close na kayo?"

(Ara: We're friends. Hahaha)

Mika: "At hindi ka naman kinikilig noh?"

(Ara: Che! Friends nga lang kami nun.)

Mika: "K. Fine. Oh, pano Bes, ikaw na muna bahala kay Ice ha."

(Ara: Sure. Sure.)

Mika: "Thank you again bes."

(Ara: No biggie! Bye na!)

I really don't know what to do kung wala yung best friend ko. Life for me and my son would have been much more difficult for sure.

Ara's POV

Thom and I are suppose to hang-out later after work. We've been closer since the time we first met. Don't get me wrong, we're just friends. He will pick me up here sa office. I already called him earlier to tell him na isasama ko si Ice and wala namang problema sa kanya.

Thomas: "Hi, Ars! Let's go?"

Ara: "Sure. Uhmmm Thom, sure ka okay lang na kasama si Ice?" I asked him while walking towards his car.

Thomas: "Wala namang problema dun. Ice is a wonderful kid. Napalapit na din naman sa akin yung bata. And Jeron talks about Ice so much kaya feeling ko kilala ko na rin siya." He said and nakarating na kami sa kotse niya.

We continued talking while on our way to Ice's school.

Thomas: "If you don't mind, asan na ang tatay ni Ice?"

Ara: "I don't know. Last I heard, he went to the States. Mika didn't look for him after he left when he learned about her condition. Si Mika ang tipo ng tao na hindi ipagpipilitan ang sarili niya sa taong tumalikod na sa kanya. Kaya ng dumating na si Ice, todo kayod na yun just to give Ice the best lalo na mag-isa na lng siya dito sa Pilipinas."

Thomas: "Where's her family ba?"

Ara: "Nasa Canada na. 2ng year college kami nung nagmigrate yung family niya. She was suppose to follow after our graduation but then Ice happened. Hindi madaling natanggap nung dad niya yun at first but okay na rin naman sila ngayon kahit paano. I think isa rin sa reason kung bakit subsob iyon sa trabaho dahil gusto niyang patunayan sa dad niya na she can raise her child alone. Kaya ako, I try to help her as much as I can kahit na minsan ayaw niya."
