Chapter One: Party Time!

Marina's P.O.V

"But I need freedom! I'm seventeen years old for christs sake!" I snapped back at my parents.

"Don't have that attitude with me, missy." My mum said, raising an eyebrow at me.

"I don't want my baby going to parties and having... dare I say it...sex" My dad added with a disgraced look.

"Look," I stated, "I'm seventeen years old, I think I would have had sex with one of those twats by now if I was ever going to."

"Fair point" My dad pointed out, shrugging.

"Charlie!" My mum gasped, the look of horror on her face. She turned to me and said, "And you young lady, watch your language." She waggled her finger at me in the process.I groaned, frustrated at my mother. The fact that she questioned our trust was unbelievable.

"Come on, Sarah! Be reasonable. Maybe we should let her..." my dad trailed off, his eyes wandering everywhere around the room but my mother's gaze. At that point, my brother 'swaggered' into the room- his choice of words, not mine- showing off his big ego. Surprisingly though, he helped me out.

"Seriously mum, do you really think she would ruin her 'reputation' by going to this dumbass party? Frankly, I don't think she even has a reputation to withhold-" My brother added matter-of-factly.

"-Yeah! Thanks for that Roo- Roo." I interjected, glaring at him.

"Mary! Don't call me Roo- Roo." He stomped. He's such a baby.

"Don't call me Mary! It's Mah-rine-ah" I practically spat at him, breaking down my name so he heard me.

"Rupert! You are not part of this conversation. Now go to school! And Marina, ignore him." My mum said, shooing him out the door.

"Come on! Dad, you know I don't like alcohol! I never have. It's just... yuck! Besides, just because you two made mistakes when you were my age, doesn't mean I'll make them! It's 2014. The modern day. People don't make those mistakes anymore." I argued, rolling my eyes. Parents are so annoying sometimes. They just don't understand teenagers these days.

"Fair point." My dad said again, shrugging.

My mum sighed, "Well, seeing as we trust you... I don't see why you can't go this one time. Just as long as you stay with Katy, don't drink and don't wear anything slutty-"

"-Mum!" I squeaked, shocked at her words, "Do you honestly know me!? Don't worry. I'll wear a knee length dress."

"Well, that's settled. You better be going to school." My dad quickly said before my mum had time to answer

"Oh... um... can I stay at Katy's tonight? It's just she has been begging me to help her chose and outfit and we want to get ready there. Please?" I begged my parents. My mum raised her eyebrows at that. Clearly thinking the possibilities through. "Please?"

"I don't see why that would be a problem. Katy's a nice girl. Weird, but nice. Go have some fun. Let your hair down for once. I mean, to be honest, you do always coop yourself up in your room. It will be good for you. Get a taste of a real high school experience." My dad smiled as he said this, probably remembering about his youth days.

"Yes! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Love you daddy!" I squealed, wrapping my arms around his neck and squeezing tightly. I looked over his shoulder to see my mum, with her hand on her hip.

"And you mummy!" I screeched as I ran to her. We couldn't help but laugh.

"Okay, okay" my dad laughed, "time to go to school. You're going too late if you don't hurry up."
