Do you ever feel like the universe is conspiring against you? Everything you wish wouldn't happen, ends up happening. The more you run away from certain situations, the more you end up getting caught in them. You end up getting trapped in the webs of people you want to get away from.

"I'm sorry?" I apologized. It sounded more like a question than a statement.

The boy lifted his hoodie, but he had gotten up with his back facing me before I was able to see his face. I did manage to catch a glimpse and I felt my stomach sink and my chest tighten. No, this can't be happening, it can't be him.

"Good afternoon, class." My English teacher, Miss Denyse smiled as she entered the class. "How are my lovely students doing? Summer break ended too soon, didn't it?" She pouted.

Ah, I remember why she was my favorite teacher back then. She's probably the only teacher who was honest with us and didn't act as if studying or coming to school was actually fun.

"Don't worry, we'll have loads of fun this year so cheer-" She stopped midsentence, causing me to look up at her only to find her looking directly at me. "Oh my, I see a familiar face," she said with wide eyes.

I awkwardly smiled at her, "Good afternoon."

"What a pleasant surprise. Truth be told, you were the last person I was expecting to see this year." She grinned, "Why don't you come up here and introduce yourself to the class. Though, I'm sure most of you know her but this one is for all those who don't."

Darn it! She had to, she just had to go ahead and make my day even worse. Why did I call her my favorite teacher again?

I unenthusiastically got up from my seat and dragged my feet to the front of the class. I could feel so many pair of eyes following me.

Take deep breaths, deep, deep breaths. You got this, Eve, you got this.

"My name is Evangeline Lorenzo," I said as I tried to stay confident and ignore all the curious and judgmental stares I was receiving.

What do I do? What do I do? I don't want to stand here and embarrass myself. I need to build myself up again, I need everyone to know and remember who once ran this school. I need everyone to know im the same Evangeline, only stronger and fiercer. You won't be able to do that if you let your anxiety get the best of you. This moment will undoubtedly define how people will see you for the rest of the year and the ones that are to come.

"That's all you need to know," I smirked.

Yes! Great save.

The class erupted in a series of whispers and gasps. It was quite dramatic, if you ask me. But on the bright side, I managed to not make a fool out of myself.

I wish I could've said the day got over pretty quickly, but it didn't. It seemed longer than usual. I didn't get to see him again which was great. As soon as I exited the school, I saw Simon waiting by the car. God, he was punctual as ever. I was hoping I'd get to go by myself, but I guess not.

"Good afternoon, Miss Lorenzo," He opened the door for me.

"Afternoon, Simon. So, I was wondering if you've got any errands to run or things you have to buy or stuff that you usually do."

"Not any that I know of, Miss. Why'd you ask?" He said.

"I feel like walking home today. You know, to get some fresh air, look around and take in everything. It's been a long time since I last saw this place." I smiled at him. "So, you can take the car back and if anyone asks, tell them I had to get a few things and that you dropped me at the mall, kay?"
