I stood holding onto the rail. I was getting a little uncomfortable because one of the homeless men were eyeing my bag. I tucked it behind me and hoped for the best. If worse came to worse maybe he'd die before jumping me. I looked around for another place to stand with no people because honestly after being inside that long I wasn't used to people so on top of being a killer klutz I had social anxiety. I watched the guy shift around and tensed up everytime he did thinking everytime he did I was gonna get jumped. I eventually gave up after a few minutes and lost all tenseness I had before. I just kind of stood there waiting. Of course when I wasn't paying attention it happened. He jumped up and started grabbing at my bag I screamed for help and tried to push him away. He pushed me down and took my bag. Yelling and screaming filled the subway but the pain in my head from were I hit the floor was distracting me from all of it. My vision was in a blur because I was on the verge of crying. Before I even knew what was happening someone was helping me up and handing me my bag.

"Hey, are you alright?" A guys voice said.

I wiped my tears away and nodded.

"What happened?" I asked quietly.

"After the guy jumped ya I saw and went after him." He said pointing to guy on the floor. He was unconscious and had a bloody face.

"Thanks." I mumbled and took my bag, pushing it behind me.

"Oh I'm Jake by the way." He smiled and looked at me.

"Im Rose." I said. I stared at my feet still a little shooken up.

"Rose... that's a really pretty name. Anyway you seem a bit nervous from that. Were ya headed and maybe I can walk you there?" He offered.

"I can walk by myself and I don't really have a place to go." I looked up finally looking at him.

"Okay then." He looked a little awkward and slightly confused.

"Sorry..." I mumbled.

We rode the subway in silence. Every once in a while I would notice how glance at me. I have to admit he wasn't half bad looks wise. I could already tell he was nice because he saved me, kinda. Once the subway stopped I grabbed my bag and stepped off not even know where I was.

"Idiot." I mumbled to myself.

"That's not nice to say." Jake said.

"Oh that wasn't meant toward you. Sorry, I'm kinda.... nevermind." I sighed and walked to the main which was no help thanks to some graffiti artist apparently who had been here and whose name was wang.

"If you want a good map there up there." He said pointing to the enter and exit things.

"Thanks." I grabbed a map and sat down, looking for where I was at and some place to go.

"So just a question but what's someone like you doing out here this late?" He sat next to me and I rolled my eyes.

"I'd ask you the same thing." I didn't look up from the map.

"Worked late. Whats your excuse?" I glanced at him and he raised his eyebrow.

"Its a long story."

"I got time."

"Whats wrong with you?! You can't just simply leave me alone? I don't need help and I have a logical explanation on why in out here but that's none of your business. Now leave me alone!" I grabbed my bag and nearly ran out of there.

I turned back before exiting and there he sat. I felt a little bad. He had saved me kinda and I was a jerk. A jerk that felt like I now deserved all this. So he was a tad bit annoying but he was trying to help. I sat on the stairs thinking. I rest my head against palms and closed me eyes. It was late. I was tired and a little hungry. I was a jerk to him when he was trying to help and out of all my worst days this has been the worst.
