It's awful when things happen when you are not ready for it. There are things in life that you wish you could prepare for, spend weeks planning for it just so you are sure that it will have the outcome you desire, but unfortunately life doesn't work like that.
Life hits you with moments you are not prepared to deal with out of nowhere, it hits you with things you wish you could never face and in some cases it leaves you with an awful feeling afterwards.
You can't plan your entire life, you definitely can't plan how others will react after you share things with them and you also can't plan how you'll feel after experiencing some things. Life would be easier if we could be prepared for everything, but unfortunately life doesn't work this way.
Jeongguk left Taehyung's loft as early as he could because once he woke up that Saturday morning, his dream was still vividly playing inside his head. Because of that he felt like he just couldn't stay at his friend's place any longer.
He was supposed to go back home but his mind was making him overthink everything again and he didn't want to be locked inside his room overthinking all day long, so he decided to try his luck with his best friend.
JK:
gyeom u home?
The reply took less time than it normally would and that made Jeongguk get hopeful.
yu_gyeom:
yep. why? finally remembered bout ur bff kook?
JK:
dont start
can i come over?
yu_gyeom:
course
mi casa su casa kook
Jeongguk then went to Yugyeom's house and was glad to get distracted by his stupid friend all day long. They played videogames for hours and then once the younger insisted that Jeongguk should sleep over, they settled on watching movies all night long.
It was nice and Jeongguk was feeling more at ease after that.
Around midnight Jeongguk's phone vibrated on his pocket and he smiled widely once he saw it was Jimin. It had been a while since both boys spent time together and he was missing his friend.
As the movie he was watching with Yugyeom was paused because the latter went to pick up snacks for them, he decided to reply to his friend.
Jimin was simply sending him random memes, as he usually does late at night when he is bored, and the younger laughed loudly before replying to his friend.
"What's so funny?" Yugyeom asked as he returned from the kitchen with a bowl of popcorn.
Jeongguk waited for his friend to sit on the couch again and stuffed some popcorn inside his mouth before replying to him. "Just something Jimin sent me."
Yugyeom side eyed him, the boy would probably never admit, but Jeongguk knew he was lowkey jealous of Jimin. Jeongguk knew Yugyeom considered him his best friend and ever since he became friends with Jimin at college the other would always act like he was jealous that Jeongguk managed to become so close to another person.

FanficLooking back at time Jeongguk should've known. All the signs were there, all the feelings, or in this case lack of, were also there. It was all out there clear as clean water, and yet he missed it. Jeongguk really should've known he was asexual, and...
