Rever POV
I'm not thy friend nor thy foe.
I run from thyself moving to and fro. Run from worries, run from doubts. Run from thyself, playing cat and mouse. Voices push and then I pull, the crusade of thy mind taking its toll.I'm not thy friend nor thy foe.
I'm but a person who shows bellicose. No matter what you say,
"You can't do it Rever."
No matter what you do,
"You're so weak Rever."
No matter where I am,
"You won't make it Rever."
I will persevere.
I'll push through the fire in my head even if I get burned. I won't relent.
I'll play a symphony. I'll play a battle cry that will overpower the fight within. There won't be casualties.
I'll run from myself, allowing my feet to go past the boundaries, to penetrate the ground with a force to be reckoned with. The thunder of each strike will clap me onward, pushing me through the woods and to my destination.
"You won't make it Rever."
You stole my voice but I won't let you break me. Not this time.
I propelled myself forward my feet driving into the ground with each step. The wolves were gaining, I could almost feel their breaths running down my back. The snapping of their teeth against my ankles. I'm thankful they missed every time. It was like a pattern, I'd hear them snarl, then I'd jump, and they'd miss.
1, 2, 3, snarl, jump, miss.
1, 2, 3, snarl, jump, miss.
It went on like this for awhile. Them snapping and growling and me jumping as if I'm going over hurdles at a track meet. I became accustomed to it. My fight wasn't with them, though the wolves wanted a fight. I was already having a struggle with myself.
Until this inner quarrel ended, they'd have to wait and take a number. I stopped in my tracks when I noticed the same black wolf who tackled me before was in front of me.
I guess they're not to keen on waiting.
I was being circled now, taunted. I kept my head down to let them know I meant no harm. But I will harm them if they don't let me pass soon. Never on purpose of course. I felt a presence run up beside me their hand grabbing my shoulder and pushing me behind them.
Edward
"Go! I'll hold them off."
I looked at him like he was crazy, "I can't just leave you here to be mauled by wolves!"
Edward didn't let his eyes roam away from the wolves, "You can't stay! You know that! You'll kill us all! Go! I'll distract them!"
I squeezed his hand in thanks as one of the wolves jumped towards us. Edward quickly pushed me out of the circle. I landed on my back with a thud and watched as he struggle against them. I was about to run back in when Edward yelled out to me,
"Go! I can handle it! Go!"
With that I sprinted away, the sound of snapping growing smaller with the distance. The thrashing in my head increasing in strength with each step. Mind bending pain developed, the bashing growing bigger with every second I didn't surrender to release. I've never held it for this long, usually it would just happen. My voice would rang out like a nuclear bomb.
I typically didn't have a choice in the matter. I knew it was coming, I didn't have long. The thrashing of waves against a rock barrier could be heard in the distance. The prominent smell of salt was in the air. This motivated me to keep going, to push myself to move faster.
10
I can do this, just a little bit longer! My arms pumped by my sides, my legs moved with longer strides.
9
I passed tree after tree, my body becoming one with the wind that nudged me forward as if it were cheering me on.
8
I moved steady to the beating drum of my mind. When I saw my goal, my breath was taken away. Beautiful water spanned out for miles, strong waves attacked the bottom of the cliff I was running to. This was it. My safe haven.
7
If I could push myself a little bit faster.
6
Almost there!
5
You can do it Rever!

I was at the top of the cliff when I was attacked by a russet brown red wolf. I closed my eyes waiting for my life to end when I didn't feel a single bite.
3
I opened my eyes and came in contact with brown ones. The wolf's expression was one of shock, it's eyes going wider. I struggled beneath it when I felt the body being thrown off by Edward. I stood up and ran to the edge, not once hesitating. I leaped, my arms spread out like wings. I brought my hands forward in a point, diving into the water that engulfed and caressed me like a smooth blanket.
2
I swam into the depths, going as deep as I could. Then it happened.
1
It was like my mouth was pried open. The first sounds I made was drowned out by the water. I could feel the pressure of the waves getting stronger and faster as if my voice provided it power. The current more lethal as it attempted to drag me away. The waves grew 10x bigger than normal. I just let it happen. My voice was unheard which means everyone was safe. As the pain grew so did the sound of my voice. I put my hands over my mouth to try to muffle it but it was no use. No matter how hard I tried to stop it, to take control, it broke through like a wrecking ball to a building.
The time bomb finally exploded.
I thrashed, kicked, and squirmed as my voice went to higher notes. I kept my hands over my lips in an attempt to silence the ongoing rupture. Again, it was no use. I could see the bubbles rising around me as air left my body and water entered in its place.
A splash was heard above me as someone dared to enter the malevolent waters. I watched as they were swallowed whole. They fought the current and made their way towards my trembling figure. My voice went even higher than I thought possible. I closed my eyes and willed it to stop. But it kept going.
Warm arms enveloped me sending me comfort. Not wanting to hurt them I thrashed and kicked my voice growing and growing. The waves around us formed a whirlpool as if I commanded it to with my voice. I fought and fought until I grew tired.
Yes, I grew tired.
The water turned black as my eyesight started to leave. The only thing that gave me reassurance was the warm arms that still hugged me no matter how hard I pushed or shoved.
I was tired. For the first time in what seemed like forever, I was tired.
When my eyes began to close I didn't panic. Instead I embraced the heat that tucked me into my own cocoon.
And I welcomed the darkness like an old friend.
